Can you put ashes in a tattoo?

Never had a tattoo before but I'd like to have one to remember my dad.
I'd like to include his ashes in it. Is this a thing?
Is it possible to do this? If so, anywhere in Scotland that does this does anyone know? thanks!

Sorry your dad has died but I can't imagine it's a good idea. Surely the ashes are potentially carcinogenic?

Yes you can but I believe only certain places do it, you’d have to google for your area

You can, but my tattooist won’t as it’s seen as putting something non sterile into an open wound.

Yes, you can, but you need to go to a specialist artist and get the ashes sterilised first.

Have you thought about having them made into jewellery as a safer alternative? You could maybe get a tattoo separately of something that was special to your dad, or reminds you of him, or simply his name or initials.

I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

Thanks for your replies. Good point about putting something in an open wound.
Sterilised might be possible, I'll do some more googling. I'd like his writing from my last birthday card on my arm 'love from your old Dad'.
Nothing huge or fancy. I'll google a bit more and see if I can find someone local to speak to. I'm central belt area so bound to be someone.
Thanks for idea of bit of putting ashes in jewellery. thats a good alternative.

I’ve had ashes put into a tattoo. I had to have them processed first by a company called ‘cremation ink’ otherwise they won’t dissolve into the ink and then you have to find a tattoo artist that’s willing to use the ink but it’s definitely doable.
