Is it acceptable for a woman in her 40’s to get her first nose piercing? Does it just scream out MLC? I’m more of you only live once time of my life. I’m also having my first tattoo.

The only person who can say they are too old for a piercing, is the person who owns the body part.

No, I got my nose repearced aged 40.

When I got it first done 20 years ago, you'd turn a few heads but now it's so vanilla it's almost like a basic lobe piercing.

Definitely mid life crisis for me too and I want more ear piercings, maybe a tattoo!

Go for it, it's all pretty mainstream now.

I was wondering the same thing! Had it pierced in my late teens but let it close up at some point in my 20s - now mid/late 40s I’ve got a hankering to get it repierced lol

I’m a similar age. I had my nose pierced last year and followed it up with a pierced nipple this year. All good and l will follow up with having the second nipple done in the autumn. Leaving a healing gap because l like to swim in the sea in the summer.

I had my septum pierced last week.

I’m 52.

Thank you all for your replies. Can you have it pierced with a tiny stud. Is the hole very visible if you are not wearing a stud in it?

When you have it pierced you will be asked to select the jewellery. You should have a larger (but not huge) stud at first. Your piercer should also ask you if you will want to change it for a hoop at a later stage ,as it will determine the positioning. Ensure you choose a piercer who uses a needle.

l’ve only taken mine out once, apart from changing it (that was for an MRI) but l think she suggested not to remove it for around 8 weeks. Allow time for it to fully heal.

lf someone gets really close up to you (say snogging distance 🥹) they might notice a tiny hole l suppose. I’ve no intention to remove it and don’t know it’s there unless l look in the mirror. I love it.
