Please help me find a nose stud

Hello, my nose keeps getting an irritation bump from the ring I'm wearing. I definitely can not put the original screw shape jewelry back in.

So I'm looking for a nose stud that is gold looking, 1mm X 8mm. I can't find anything with those measurements. I'd like a moon shape but if not just a ball will do.

Thank you.

One that I can insert from the outside please. It's too swollen from the inside for me to thread it that way. Thank you

EBay have lots of these. You need titanium or 9ct gold if wearing cheap metals is irritating your nose. Implant grade titanium is the best for body piercings that are struggling

DragonWasp · 05/12/2022 09:38

The one I'm wearing is titanium but they did something to it to make it appear gold. I was assuming the shape of the ring was irritating it rather than the material. I'm not sure how I would know.

I've not found any suitable ones on eBay :(

Look for L shaped studs. I get them from Amazon. I always wear sterling silver but they come in all materials. The shape is really easy to insert from the outside and it stays in place.

SalviaOfficinalis · 05/12/2022 19:45

It’s very likely to be the material (the gold coating) that’s irritating you, not the shape. It didn’t really matter what it’s made from if it’s coated with something else, because that’s what’s coming into contact with your skin.

I’m allergic to a lot of metals. Titanium is best for me.

I prefer straight nose studs (bones) to hoops personally. Or sometimes I just get a small stud earring and bend it into a right angle myself - gives you much more choice.

Get a threadless labret, a threadless end and an insertion pin/taper from here. The best quality. I bet your irritation bump will go down very quickly.

I would avoid anything from eBay/Amazon etc as the metals are likely to be poor quality, even if they say titanium.

Go to the piercer. They'll be able to sort out a titanium labret, fit it for you and give proper care instructions (if in doubt, it's hot sterile saline multiple times a day).

DragonWasp · 05/12/2022 20:27

@Findyourneutralspace yes I've been looking for L shaped but struggling to find the right size. I've checked so many websites now. It's infuriating.

@SalviaOfficinalis i wish titanium came in gold though.

@Mol1628 thanks for that link, what material would you recommend from that website?

@NeverDropYourMooncup love the name. The piercer is hopeless. They were meant to be ordering me some weeks ago but haven't. So that's why I'm playing the guessing game with it and feel like I'm searching for a needle in a hey stack.

Any material from that site will be fine as they only sell high quality stuff. Junipurr is my favourite.

You can anodise titanium so it looks gold!

You can also buy real gold ends to fit on a titanium labret (that’s what I do )

DragonWasp · 05/12/2022 20:34

The one I've got in is anodised titanium so that's why I think it's the ring that's irritating it but. Who knows 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
Lellochip · 05/12/2022 21:00

As far as I know, anodised titanium is no less hypoallergenic than plain so more than likely not the material irritating.

I think labrets are the best option, screws and bones can get pulled out, and I find the flatback much less 'pokey' on the inside. Something like this look good? www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1103159733/astmf-136-medical-grade-yellow-titanium

8mm feels a little long for a nostril, might want to try out something plain/cheaper for size first?

DragonWasp · 05/12/2022 21:56

@Lellochip I actually bought that one a while ago. When I first got it I attempted to put it in but I couldn't so that's why today I was thinking of one that I could thread in from the outside.

I just tried it now after giving it a hot compress. I managed to get it in but because there's a bump on the inside and outside it's not long enough. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😭🤷‍♀️ And that's with a 8mm.

I don't know what to do. it's looks disgusting.

Lellochip · 05/12/2022 22:03

Ah yeah I wasn't really thinking about the added length with the bump.

Are there no other local piercers you could try? They should be able to pick something that fits, and might have advice on the bump

DragonWasp · 05/12/2022 22:13

It looks like I'm going to have to find one.
