Wrist tattoo

Planning a very small tattoo to be done next week. Trouble is, if I can't get it wet how the heck do I get clean until it is healed?
Also, as it's small - kind of single line, thumb nail size - will it fade and need redoing in a few years, it will be inner wrist.

First tattoo so not sure what to expect!

Rubber gloves x

I've got one on each wrist - cover with cling film to begin with then just keep creaming with bepantham. I showered etc but think you have to keep it dry for 24 hours and no chlorine for like a week
Haven't had one in over 7 years but just ask the tattooist and they will advise

Watching with interest as i am debating a wrist tattoo.

I have the design, and a fab tattooist — I’ve just prevaricated for ....hmmmm. 2 years about the placement.

I really WANT it on my wrist, it is the prefect location for this tattoo but is the wrist the new lower back? Argh. No, I don’t think it is. But...

i have one going round my wrist and I can't remember having to keep it dry.
ds had one done right on the end of his hand/wrist and that did take a while to heal, think its cos of the movement, it needs re doing, but think thats cos it wasn't done well.

Why did I not think of gloves 😂😂 I assume I will have to factor 50 it all year round to maintain it. I'm concerned about fading and it looking crap after a couple years having read this is what happens to tiny tattoos, I don't want to have to get it redone every few years!

My wrists ones are over 10 years old (I even went swimming as was on holiday!) I've never had to redo mine at all! I have one on my side that needs redoing but that was a rubbish tattooist!

I have tattoos on both of my wrists and have had no problems with fading, one is 5 years old and the other is very new, you'll be fine. Tattoo goo do a restore balm that is good and has a high SPF.

I would say it's down to the quality of the artists use of the tattoo gun/needle. My right wrist us still crisp, clear and and the lines haven't bled. The left wrist the text is now illegible (which is good because it relates to my X) both are over 10 years old. As for aftercare, didn't do a thing once I took the cling film off. Also they are both quite large about fist sized.

You can get your new tattoo wet. You just shouldn't soak or submerge it under water, such as going swimming. Running it briefly under the shower is fine (and should be done –you should be cleaning it 3 or 4 times a day over the first few days). Let it air dry (don't rub with towels or anything) then moisturise with a simple fragrance-free moisturiser such as E45.

TBH, if your tattoo artist is even halfway respectable, they will tell you all this themselves as standard practice. Same with whether it's too small or not, risk of blurring over time, etc. If they can't talk to you confidently about that kind of thing, then I'd question why you trust them to tattoo you.

I've had one on my wrist removed. While that was healing I bought some Tegaderm patches online to keep it clean and dry Smile

You can get it wet in running water from the tap or shower and you can still have a bath just don't submerge your wrist.
