Is it a bad sign that an artist has space for walk ins?

Tomorrow! Would alarm bells be ringing? I'm wanting a tattoo done, and the guy who did my first one has walk in spaces tomorrow. Is that a bad thing? I made an appointment before.
Would I be nuts to just go for it?

Make sure you see what they have planned in advance...and if in any doubt say no thanks

I know a lot of artists are dealing with loads of cancellations and re-arrangements at the moment because of the time of year so it wouldn't concern me too much. Have you seen any examples of really recent work he's done? The guy I go to is excellent and has space tomorrow and next week because of people moving appointments and cancelling.

Yes, that's apparently the reason why he has space for walk ins.
I have seen some recent stuff he's done. He did my first tattoo in Dec '16 that I love.

I'm mates with a few TAs and they often post on FB saying they have cancellations and are free.

A cancellation of a large tattoo could easily free up half of a day.

If his first tattoo for you was good why are you worrying?!

StrokeCatsEatPizza · 04/01/2018 22:49

The umbrella is cute. Is he going to draw you up something similar?

StrokeCatsEatPizza · 04/01/2018 22:50

Forgot to say the one you already have looks really nicely done so I wouldn't worry.

Bluelonerose · 04/01/2018 22:52

My tattooist is often on fb saying he's got half day free tomorrow if anyone wants in and he's done my last 10+ tattoos.

I hope so, I was planning to turn up in the morning and ask him to. If he's too busy I'll book an appointment.

I'm not worried about him or the quality of the tattoo, I just didn't know what was usual re walk ins. I had to make an appointment last time so it was a bit different.

If you liked him the first time and you feel that you both agree with the design I would go for it.

I only have the one tattoo but the artist I saw made me go away and think about it for a couple of days and I'm glad he did. It wasn't terrible but I wanted a very small minimalist tattoo and he said it would soon blur

Love the umbrella tattoo! Smile

My DD's uncle is a tattoo artist and his waiting lists are a year long . I imagine there are times where people cancel and ask to rearrange but I know most tattoo shops tend to have waiting lists . Usually the main artists tend to have longer lists as they've built up a reputation I guess.

I always think tattooists are like hair dressers and cake makers ,everyone has their favourite and they always go back to the same one and are quite loyal to them if they do a good job.
