Rabbits like all rodents have teeth that are continually growing so they need to be given food/play items that they can gnaw to wear their teeth down. Wooden stuff is good.

Hay is good for keeping their teeth down and is also a good supplement to their food.

This is useful

rabbits

I have an indoor rabbit too, but he always has hay. He seems to like it, and uses it for bedding.

I think that things like carrots are meant to be a treat rather than a main food?

There was a school of thought a few years ago among rabbit "experts" that actually bunnies should be fed ONLY hay and veg. The reasoning being that in the wild rabbits graze for many hours of the day, and chew lots, which helps to keep their teeth worn down. The way we tend to feed rabbits is a bit artificial- bowls of cereal-based food that they can eat in a minutes, leaving them not grazing/ feeding for a huge proportion of the day. With my own rabbits, I do give pelleted food, but also lots of hay/ straw and veg.

carrots are high in sugar so shouldn't be fed too often.

A good quality dry 'complete' rabbit food, plenty of good quality hay and a fresh water supply should be plenty to meet the basic nutritional needs of your bunny.

Thats interesting. My rabbit does seem to eat an awful lot of food. I've had rabbits before, but they have never eaten as much as this one.
What would you advise? Are they able to control their own intake or should I be limiting what I give him?

I give my wee bunny a bowl of rabbit mix in morn and veg at night .

thankyou all for ur help x
