My mini Rex started going down hill last week and got very fussy about food and seemed uncomfortable. We went to the vet sat am. Vet thought she was in early stasis. Gave her a gut stimulant jab and some painkillers. We left with the critical care food and an Emeprid script.
Vet said 24-36 hours to see an improvement. We have been syringe feeding her, keeping her in the living room and dp has been doing tummy massages regularly. She seems to quite like this.

She went a full 24 hours without a poo but now she has done a few tiny poos. She is drinking ok and having wees.

she’s picked at hay and kale and parsley.

tiny amount of poo overnight.

is she improving fast enough? She’s a bit mopey than she was and she’s been hopping around fine.

this is the worst incident we have had with stasis so far 😢

It’s so scary isn’t it? She’s picking at food which is a brilliant as when ours was at their poorliest with it she was completely adamant about not eating no matter what we offered her. Keep doing what you’re doing and keep the vet posted. I would ring them for advice as they’ll know better than anyone on here. Everything crossed for you and bun.

It sounds like she is improving slightly, but would recommend Fibreplex if you haven't already got it. Have more experience of guinea pigs than rabbits, but Fibreplex is one of the things that really helps gut stasis

Amazon do it on prime so it's easy to get hold of

All the best for your bunny

Can you get her some bramble leaves? Rabbits almost always like this and they get the gut moving. Make sure to get grass and other fresh stuff that hasn’t been peed on by dogs.

Please do keep in contact with your vet because rabbits are fragile, expensive, worrying as well as being utterly adorable.

If you can get fresh grass and Apple leaves or apple twigs that would be good because the more they chew and nibble the more that gut will get moving. You could ask around and put on next door for Apple Tree Prunings and leaves-given how mild it has been there most likely will be leaves still on the trees. This includes crab apple leaves, which tend to stay on longer. Dandelion leaves always go down well. Although they are a diuretic and you don’t actually need that at the moment they will eat it and the eating and chewing is what you’re after.

The other thing possibly would be dried chicory root or dried chicory slices. You can get those online but you will have to wait a day or two. Galen‘s Gardens, online is brilliant.

You will know this but a plentiful supply of fresh hay is the basis for the diet for rabbits. Once they’re chewing, you’ve turned a corner.

Best wishes.

Thanks folks we have come down this morning to big piles of poop. Dp thought it was Xmas! She has turned a corner but I will keep her in a week I think. That was a long slog and quite a grim weekend worrying!

Hi OP I know that you asked this sometime ago, but it has been on my mind to suggest to you that you give your rabbit a daily measure of Protexin Pro-Fibre for rabbits..

Hi OP
Just seen your post. It's very good to read that you were ultimately blessed with a pile of normal bunny poops 🐇
