Canary and Conure

Could anyone please advise if it would be okay to keep a canary and a conure in the same room although they would be in separate cages?

My male canary is 4 months old and although he is a bright little fellow I’m not sure that he’ll ever be tame. A friend of mine has a hand-reared Conure which is very tame (can’t believe he paid £600 for it) but unfortunately it drives his dog crazy and he has offered her to me. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Conures are renowned for being mean little things, I wouldn’t let them associate with each other until you are absolutely certain that they have bonded. Is the conure a boy or a girl?

The conure is female and currently mixes well with a dog, two cats and a rabbit so it seems she’s very gentle. They would be kept in separate cages and I would only let the conure out to fly around when I was in the room. My canary doesn’t leave his cage even though I’ve tried to encourage him.

Same room, different cages and let out separately should be fine, surely.

I am no expert though! I do have a conure. I wouldn't say she's mean but she definitely has attitude and is territorial. She does need a lot of time and attention (luckily I am home a lot).

I have a conure who is the meanest thing ever

My conure can be a fiend. I wouldn’t trust him with another smaller bird. I don’t even trust him with my socked feet.
