Bond broken between pair- female attacking male violently

Our bunnnies have been bonded for over 3 years. The other evening our female starting violently going for the male- it was literally like they were both fighting to the death- fur everywhere, scratching, biting and rolling around on the floor. I separated them.

the male keeps going out to see the female through the bars of where she is penned off for his safety. Every time he does she runs over to the bars and bites him or scratches him- it’s like she has turned into a rabid murderer!

the vet checked them over and they’re both ok. I just don’t know what to do. She attacks him every time he comes near. The vet says the bond is probably broken irreparably and we must re home her. Part of me wants to try rebonding them but I can’t see a scenario where we try that without either them or us getting hurt.

Oh my goodness, this is the sort of post I dread reading, I didn't realise their bond could break like this. Has anything changed to bring this on or did she literally just switch?

While it is unusual for a "bond divorce" to be this aggressive, it's not unheard of. There could be any number of reasons that caused this such as an unseen illness in either bun, or an external influence such as fireworks or strong smells in the area. If only they could talk and tell us what the issue is!

With this being so aggressive, I would personally not attempt a rebond :(

Is she spayed?
