Not fair to blame the kitten. And 8 weeks is too young to have been taken away from her mother.

The kitten is frightened of your toddler so you need to keep them apart, and concentrate on helping to keep the kitten safe, and not frightened all the time.

Eight weeks is very young and many people find single kittens tricky. They should be with litter mates and their mum. Litter mates provide endless play opportunities and along with mum provide feedback that if you bite/scratch too much you'll get it back. That's not feedback a person can give in the same way.

He is not being naughty. That tracking and attaching a moving target is normal kitten behaviour!

Is anyone spending time playing with him regularly? Without other kittens around this is essential. This sort of toy is great as it keep hands etc well away:

This. Poor little thing must be petrified.

I honestly doubt he's terrified of the toddler, he's just trying to play and hone his hunting skills. He has no concept of naughty or toddler safety.

The hazard of getting one I am afraid. They choose their own playmate instead!

@GardeningIdiot yes he has lots of toys and we spend all day with us, kids obviously get bored and walk away he sleeps eats plays but his always with me follows me and I have toys and interaction time with him, the kids have long hair so he sees this swing and feels like it's a toy which I get as his a baby I just want to say I saw this little fella and wanted to rescue him which I did my comment on him being naughty was intended to be light hearted suggestion. Thank you for the comments and suggestions will take some on board.

I wasn't criticising, OP. It's just that these tiny solo kittens are understandably pretty needy.

Also, we need a photo! 😍

Do not let your cat out after the 2nd injection. They are far too young. You need to wait till after he is neutered and preferably until he is at least 6 months. An unneutered male will roam a lot more, get in to more fights and be more likely to be killed in a road accident.

Are you being serious?

He's way, way too young/
