Would my bunny be ok for 4 days alone?

I’m going away for 4 nights next week and I plan to bring my rabbit into the kitchen with her hutch and run, leave 4 food dishes and 4 water bottles full of water for her. She will also have hay to eat. She will be completely safe in the kitchen it’s cool in there for her and she has just as much room as she would outside. On the day I leave I plan to give her fresh veggies as I always do every day, then on the day I return to plan to give her them also. Will she be ok on her own for 4 days?

Where are you based? There are rabbit boarders in alot of areas. As long as the rabbit is vaccinated and spayed there will surely be one near you that could take the rabbit.
Our rabbit is high maintenance, it still hasn't forgiven us for going on holiday for a fortnight (someone visited several times a day to check on it, let it out for a run - house bunny - and change food, water, herbs, and not just 5 minute visits either). Honestly, it's such a diva Hmm

Not a good idea to leave them as long as you are suggesting, not just for food, water, etc., but also for the rabbit's health and wellbeing. They do get used to people being there and you need to be savvy to pick up on anything that's not right, e.g. start of stasis.

What the fuck? Don't do this?

Do you think you've got a super rabbit with the ability to tell the time and portion it's good supply out?

Give the thing up to someone who actually knows how to care for a pet.

Good

Oh my god..FOOD! ^

I agree with everyone else. One of my rabbits as a child died of fly strike, it happened so fast and was horrific. Please don’t.

Lurkerlot · 25/07/2022 00:42

No, this is not ok. Please don’t do this.

Very pleased to see a unanimous NOPE from the MNers on this one <3

I've seen my rabbits go from absolutely fine to needing immediate vet care for stasis within half an hour. I wouldn't leave them alone an unchecked for 1 day let alone four days :(

Purplepatsy · 25/07/2022 11:26

No you really shouldn't. Someone needs to check daily, give fresh veg and change the water every two days.
Don't you have a neighbour or friend who would do it? Or else someone who would take your rabbit in its hutch to their house.
We sometimes look after a friend's guinea pigs while they're away and we do a morning and an evening visit, to clean the hutch, give food and water.

No.

RedHelenB · 25/07/2022 11:28

Could someone pop in at least once to check on drabbit?

allboysherebutme · 25/07/2022 11:28

No definitely not will need water ect. Maybe ask a neighbour he will die if you leave him alone like that. X

I’m also going to chime in with the fact that a rabbit shouldn’t be kept on its own - you are supposed to have them in at least pairs. Could be that you had two originally and one passed away or something, so sorry if you already know that, but I thought it’s worth mentioning.

Odd that the OP appears to have fucked off after posting this. Well actually, not really. I hope they managed to rub their two brain cells together and create enough common sense not to be so bloody cruel and negligent.
