Omlet hutch for Guinea pigs?

Hi, we are in the early stages of negotiations with the kids on whether to get some guinea pigs (will be first pet).
I had seen the Omlet cages with attached runs and thought they looked great (£££!) but I’m only at the start of research. I just saw a thread on here that the Omlet hamster cages are actually terrible so wondering if anyone has any experience of the ones for guineas? Thanks in advance!

I bought the Omlet cube for my hens first, was so impressed that I invested in one for my piggies. It's fantastic, very easy to keep clean, I can shut them in when it's cold, they have the cage I love around on the grass. It's expensive but has lasted a lot longer than the wooden one I had before.

I wouldn't touch their rabbit one for my rabbits, so I'm equally suspicious about the suitability of the guinea pig one. Do you know the recommended space requirements for GPs? Does it meet them? I think you could spend the same money and get something far better.

I also think GPs are better kept indoors in any case.

So I recommend you keep on researching before you buy anything. Try contacting a local rescue and finding out from them.

Their Eglu type hutches are trash, way too small, especially considering they'll be shut inside it for the majority of the winter.

Guineas are definitely better as indoor pets than outdoors. They do need a lot more space than usually given credit for and are much happier indoors in winter months especially. I wouldn't keep them outside, my rabbits are hardier and just fine, but not guineas.

I would also recommend contacting rescues, they get a lot of guinea pairs in and will be able to advise on proper housing too.

I use CC cages with fleeces indoors for Guinea pigs… a really good set up for them. Bought them from Kavee. Washing the fleeces is a bit of a pain but it’s by far the best bedding option I’ve tried. The guineas love it .

I've always kept my Guinea pigs outdoors, just indoors when it's really cold.
The Omlet cages are not trash, I've got one and with the run it's fine and very easy to keep clean.

My guinea pigs are in one as we had it for bantams first and it is attached to a massive full height walk in 4m x 2m run. It's brilliant like that and my guinea pigs love running really fast around the big space which has lots of enrichment in it. We only shut them in the hutch bit at night when it's cold and then we have a secondary house in it stuffed with hay and they stay really warm in that. But it's covered and they ALWAYS get to run round every day. I wouldn't ever keep them in it 24 hrs a day... if it gets really cold we bring them in to the house over night in an indoor cage thing, but they still get to run and play outside every day..
