Any recommendations for a good size Guinea pig cage?

We've had our piggies for a few months now and I want to get them a bigger cage. Currently they have a smallish one upstairs and then a large run (hexagonal, 4' diameter) that they get brought down to every afternoon to run around in. As they get bigger I'd rather give them more room permanently, I don't think the run would work full time as it is a flimsy tarp base with a separate wire surround and the hay gets everywhere. Can anyone recommend a large cage (we have a space which is approx 5' by 5' that we can use) which is all on one level (1 piggie won't climb ramps) and which won't lead to hay/sawdust all over my living room?

We had a c&c cage candcguineapigcages.co.uk/standard-cages/
Easy to add to and the lip of the base keeps most of the hat etc contained. Easy to clean out and can get what ever size fits best

I have looked at those, but they seem to only have long narrow ones (4x2, 5x2). I want something more square or round as the boys love running circuits round their run in the evening.

We bought 2 sets and made them into one large one. There’s lots of other places that do them too.

Can the pigs get over the lip between the two sections OK? If so then that would probably work best

You can make a c and c cage any size or shape you like, you just slot the panels together into the shape you want and trim the bases to fit / stick with sellotape etc.

(With the bases they come completely flat so you can just put the edges up where you need to).

We got ours from here -

We have a 6x6 square cage that fits in our kitchen diner.

You can make the c&c cages up however you wish, to fit your area. There are quite a few you tube videos on how to do this. Scotty from LA guinea pig rescue has a good video. I'm soon going to be building an L shaped one to fit a weird space!

Ah, the completely flat bases makes a lot more sense then! Fab, thanks all for the advice, I'm off to plan a piggie Palace!

Good video here!

BTW, my girls are on washable fleece not shavings and it's so much better! Use a couple of hay racks too, to stop it going everywhere.

We have a 6x2 c and c cage from kaveecage.net/collections/white-c-c-cages-for-guinea-pigs. It's the perfect size for our 3 piggies and offers plenty of space, my girls even offer to help me clean out the cage. They got some cute bedding choices available so it even makes it look nice in our living room. As others mentioned, c and c cages are easy to set up and can fit any space. You can always add a couple of grids in if you decide to get more guinea pigs (like I did!) Grin

Someone mentioned fleece bedding, and I have to second that! Using fleece means we don't get hay or dust going everywhere.

This article has a great list of types of bedding for pet rodents, and how to make DIY bedding if you're stuck. It also includes instructions on how to prep fleece for use as bedding =)
