Rabbits - bark chippings on floor?

We’re taking on two new rabbits next month, and we’re currently in the process of building our rabbit area in the garden. We’ve gone for a playhouse and made additional levels within that and it will have a permanently attached large run (rabbits will also be able to free roam the garden every day when under supervision). Today we are attaching the run and sorting the flooring for that. We’ve dug down with the wire so they can’t dig out and have some nice round paving stones, a grass tray and wooden bits and bobs to place around to make it interesting for them, but I’ve just remembered that we have a large sack of play grade wooden bark leftover from a project for the DC’s, so I’m wondering if that would be nice or horrible to scatter in the areas between the paving stones? Is it safe for them or risky for them to nibble on? Advice appreciated, thank you!

Personally I wouldn’t use wood chippings. They will chew it and throw it around, and you don’t know what types of tree have been used for the chippings, not all are rabbit safe.

The floor of the run needs to be something you can sweep clean really. They will poo and wee and dig and generally make a mess. I would put slabs or concrete all over ideally. Your set up sounds amazing though - lucky bunnies :)
