Has anyone actually cured fungal nails?

Tried lots of stuff over the years and now every toe nail on one foot is affected. Was thinking about laser treatment. Has anyone had any success?

I clicked on this wondering if you meant yourself or a small pet!

I had this problem for years. Tried all sorts of diy cures - even something that made my nails completely peel off and regrow anew. They grew back still with fungal nail. I eventually cured mine with oral medication from my GP. It took about 18 months. That was 5 years ago and it’s never come back. I think it’s the only answer.

Thanks for the reply biggirl. I tried the tablets a few years ago but unfortunately had to stop as they made me really nauseous.

Listerine. I soaked my infected toe in Listerine every other day, and the fungally bit gradually grew out. I’m still amazed about it actually, because I’d tried everything too and nothing had worked. I read about Listerine in here actually, so I’m very grateful to whoever it was who suggested it, and I’m very happy to pass it forward!

@VenusClapTrap could you tell me exactly what you did - do you use full strength solution on a cotton pad for a certain period of time? How long did you have to treat it for to get rid of it? I've had a dodgy nail for 20 years. Cannot get rid of it.

I'm assuming you have tried pure tea tree oil ?
My dh tried the expensive paint on stuff , which didn't work.
We got him a bottle of tea tree, he used a cotton bud morning and night, and it got rid of it. You have to keep doing it for a good few weeks until it goes.

The tip I’d read on here was to mix half Listerine and half apple cider vinegar in a bowl and soak toes in it for five minutes every day. I didn’t have any apple cider vinegar so I used white vinegar for a while, then when I ran out of that I started using just neat Listerine, and then kept forgetting to buy more vinegar so ended up sticking with that as it seemed to be having an effect. I tended to do every other day rather than every day just because I’m a bit slack. It still worked (probably slightly more slowly). You have to keep trimming your toe nails to keep them as short as possible, and gradually the fungal part grows out. It’s not a quick process.

I still do my worst affected toe after every bath, just to be on the safe side as I’m a bit paranoid about it coming back. I just pour a little into the cap and dunk my toe in it for a few moments.

Good luck!
