Help! House Rabbits Fighting 9 Months Pregnant!

I have two lovely, sweet house rabbits who are fully bonded. We have had them for about two and a half years with no problems except for some (expected) humping when we first bought them home, which cleared ip relatively quickly. Prior to that, they lived in another home as a bonded pair.

Yesterday, they started circling each other but no fight ensued. Today however they had a full on fight like I've never seen - chasing, biting and actual boxing like you see hares doing in mating season. I am so shocked. Luckily I managed to scoop one of them up before any serious injuries - just fluff which has been torn out. I can't think of anything which has changed - their food / litterbox area is still the same, no-one new in the house or anything. So two questions really - what can / should I do? Currently they are both lay cuddling each other under my chair with no sign of upset. Also, is it possible that my hormones are saturating the air and making them mental, or is that just a silly question? I am 38 weeks and have felt suddenly exhausted the last week.

Thanks for reading this long post!

Are they two males? Have they been neutered?

We have two neutered males and fostered another one recently who had had to be split from his brother due to them suddenly fighting.

We were told not to let the new boy anywhere near the bonded pair as introducing a new male could cause them to fight. Has antttibg like that happened?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, they are both boys but both have been neutered for years now. Have never tried to introduce another animal to the house since we have had them, and for the last few months haven't had so much as a human visitor because of the Covid...

Oh dear that's difficult, how are they now? Hopefully it was a one off and you won't have to separate them permanently.

Fighting again this morning :( We have separated them and will have to rebond them the long way, which will be a pain with a new baby! I really hope it is something hormonal, as then it should settle down once I've actually given birth.
