Hi
Got my 2 girls bunnies which are bonded from birth.

Rescue bunnies

Always been very close, wash each other etc.
I got one of them spayed yesterday
The vet said make sure you keep them apart so you know that the bunny has passed stools and eating etc
Plus she might like her own space after an operation.

Which I have
Just now I put her sister in the hutch, they started fighting bad I had to split them up!
I rang vets for advice and they said keep them sorry a bit longer.

I have had female bunny's before that has been neutered never had any problems.

Maybe I should've got them neutered at the same time?!

Has anyone experienced this.
I just want them to be friends again
I know I might have to give them a few more days apart

Are you going to get your other one spayed? It sounds like you need to rebond them again. Would the rescue help?

Thank you for your reply

I say rescue
I rescued them from a lady who's kids didn't want them and they didn't k ow how to look after them
Yeah I will get the other one neutered
I will have a word with vet on Friday when she go for her post op check

Reintroduce them on neutral territory only. Somewhere neither have been before, such as your kitchen?

I kept mine apart 3 days (within sniffing/viewing distance) after my female was spayed. They fought for a few minutes when put back together, but soon settled.

I do know someone that had sister bunnies that suddenly started fighting and one actually had a heart attack from running away from the other.

The Facebook rabbit groups (Uk rabbit group) are fairly good at offering advice. If you reintroduce now, you might have the same issue when the other one is spayed, so I’d keep side by side and get her spayed ASAP, then reintroduce in a small neutral territory. Once they are rebonded, they should never be split up, even for a trip to the vets, they should go in the same carrier.
