Tumours are common in rodents which is why they are used in laboratories.

Get a Vet to have a look.

Not necessarily. It might be an abscess. I have seen them get abscesses on their butt from a tiny bit of shavings getting stuck in their skin presumably. It might also be just a fatty lump but it's worth a vet looking to see if it can be lanced or excised. Try not to worry too much. I love hamsters too. :)

You could ask on Hamster Central forum for more information. Tumours are unfortunately common as said above but hamsters can sometimes live with them for a while or even have them surgically removed.

It looks like you might have some kind of fluff in the nest area. You might want to remove as it can be quite dangerous (it causes strangulated limbs and intestinal blockages).

Thanks everyone, I can't get an appointment at the vets untill next week, I've called every vets in the area, he is still very active and eating and coming out to say hi to me, lump seems to be growing though, I just hope he's not in any pain, thanks for the advice on the bedding I'll go to the pets shop tomorow and get something else

The best nesting material is honestly just tissues or kitchen roll torn into shreds. The pet shop stuff is never as soft for the hamster.
