Anyone found a less messy system for keeping piggies?

Hello! We've had a rescue piggo for a few months now, and it's all going well. he is spoilt rotten
Here is an idea of our set up. He lives in a large cage in my daughters' bedroom. We pick out his poops daily, and top up his hay. There is generally no old food left to be removed, as he's an eating machine Grin Day to day, it's not particularly messy, as we're always careful to pull out the fresh hay from the packet straight into the cage, if that makes sense.
However, it's the weekly full clean of the cage that's a bit of a nightmare. On the very bottom, we have machine washable incontinence pads. Then on top a couple of layers of fleece, which again are washed in the machine. And the hay on top.
But Christ, trying to shake it off the fleece just makes the biggest mess (particularly as it's generally the kids who do it). We have communal bins here, and there's pretty much a trail of poo and hay all the way Blush
Obviously I can't do away with the hay, much as I'd like to. But I'm thinking that there might be a less messy/Velcro-y alternative to fleece out there. I did buy a pet laundry bag, so at least to stop the bastarding hay from wrecking my machine Grin
Any good, cheap, mess saving tips?
Thanks!

I never put hay on the fleecy bit (I have either a fleece or a lovely square of vetbed down in one section of c&c) I put newspaper, puppy pads and hay in the rest. I use a lot of hay Blush the puppy pads are great for making it easier to roll up when you change the cage

I do the same, we have c and c dividers between the hay and fleece bits. The piggies move their hay around but never onto the fleece so I think they prefer that. Ours used to sleep curled up together (we have had them since they were a week old, legitimately I might add) but sadly they don't now they are a bit older but they still hate it when the other is out of the cage and shout for each other.

I use a rubber bristled dustpan brush to sweep the hay off the fleece. It detaches a lot of it. Mine like to throw their eating hay all round the place so I gave up trying to separate. They have a hay loft for sleeping in which is newspaper and hay and rolls up easily.

We have an upper level but one of them really struggles to get up to it now Sad He's not very old so I think it's just his size.

I have my pigs on fleece but put the hay in a cat litter tray, it contains it fairly well.

And as a PP said, a lot of rescues do boar dating, they really do need a friend.

I also hate that hay going everywhere. Have also gone for the fleece liner option. However I don't put the hay all over the place. I have bought a hayrack for piggy to eat from. I don't put hay in the sleeping area. He seems perfectly happy with this. It really reduces the mess and time spent with cleaning the cage. Also stops your washing machine getting clogged up with all the bits of hair left on the pads when you wash them.
Incidentally, I have a rescue boar, about six months old. This week I have paired him up with another rescue boar about 12 weeks old. They have hit it off enormously. Obviously a little bit of argy-bargy, but it's all very friendly and they love to spend time together. So don't be put off from making some piggy introductions!
