Guinea pig cages

One of my piggies suddenly passed away so now I'm thinking about a cage mate for the remaining one. I'd need to buy a new cage for it to begin with but I'm wondering if I should just use the time to update their whole setup. Currently they have a large two story cage but is there a fantastic cage out there that I'm missing? Something suitable for indoor pigs.

Look up c&c cages. When I had pigs I built my own for my indoors - 2 story and massive. Cost me about £15.

Mine are in a c&c cage as well. It's 4x2 grids, which is big enough for 2 piggies. But they spend a lot of their time in their "holiday home" which is basically 2 of these www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EA0DE3Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Qq76Eb85D6NB9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 joined together to give a huge area on the living room floor (we put incontinence pads and a large fleece blanket down to catch the droppings)

I second that! C&C cages are great. Bought mine from kaveecage.co.uk/

I have a 4×2 c and c as well, what did you end up getting OP?

We also have c&c, 5x2 lower level, ramp up to a 2x1 loft then another ramp up to 5x1 upper level. We have 3 girls and it's a great size for them Smile

Wow a piggy mansion! What are people lining them with, i was using towels and fleeces but they were clogging the washing machine. It's a fortune in wood chips and a pain to clean out, am I missing an option?

Yes fleece liners are the best. Guinea pigs love them and it's healthy. You need to remove as much hay and hair before they go in the washing machine.

You need a pet wash bag. I got an extra large one from eBay for about £12. Throw everything in the bag then turn it inside out to dry and all the hay is in the bag not your washing machine. I can fit in a 2x5 liner, a 2x1 liner and a couple of small fleece blankets too.

We have a C and C cage, it's 2 storey and 4x2. We've used extra c&c grids to raise it up off the floor and have 2 guinea pigs in it. We have puppy pads as the main liner and then use hay which we buy the full sized bale from a farm plus we have some fleecy dog blankets which we wash in a horse blanket sack so they don't clog up the machine.

It's ideal as it's off the floor so not in drafts and it has three areas sectioned off so each of the pigs can get their own place - and can get where we can't get them out Hmm. It's got a ramp to go upstairs which is made from two of the grids, we've just used cable ties to attach a corregated plastic tunnel to it so they can easily climb up and down it.
