Grieving guinea pig?

We lost one of our guinea pigs just before Christmas. At first our remaining piggie seemed fine. Still squeaked when she heard me approaching, ate and drank as normal. However this past week I have noticed a change. She is eating still but very little, not squeaking in the morning any more and has been quite inactive. When we have had her out for a cuddle she is still responsive to touch and can still scrabble away if she wants too. But I have also notituced that when we stroke her some of her hair is coming out. I am thinking this is stress and loneliness possibly. She does actually seem OK in herself - munched away on some cucumber a minute ago when we had her out. My question is - we were thinking of getting a pair of babies to jeep her company. She is around 3 and a half years old. But I'm worried in case they don't bond. Anyone got any advice? Does this sound like grieving to you? Thank you.

As far as I know they have to be kept in pairs...

Yes, I think they definitely do like company. And I do know they can live in more than groups of two however just not sure how they take to new piggies....

Most rescue places neuter boars that they have available, you could see if you could get her a male companion.

Aw yes do get another friend :) We did this with mice and subsequently just kept having more sets. They might need to be sometimes separated, it really depends how they take to each other.
