Old GP hutch for bunnies, any issues?

We are thinking of getting bunnies and have seen a very local hutch on eBay. It comes with GP food so I imagine that’s who used to live in it. My question would be, do I need to do some kind of deep clean or would baby bunnies be OK there (I plan to casually get an idea of why there are no more GPS, in case there was an illness in it).

We had GPS when I was a child so are still learning about rabbits. This is a multi-function cage, I just didn’t want to introduce them into something which could make them unwell.

My piggies weren't that wild about fleece , if they had the choice between fleece and a bed of hay , they'd pick hay .

But fleece comes in handy in summer when you want a soft sleeping area without them cooking themselves in hay .
Or if you have a guinea-pig with an eye injury (hay poke) or a wound and you don't want to risk injury

-though they still need eating hay . You can buy solid blocks , use a hay rack or stuff loo roll tubes with hay to keep them busy. They need 24/7 access to hay.

There are petbags you can buy ( equine or dog blanket ones) that keep it all in the bag not your machine .

I bought a load of Ikea fleeces , about £1.80 each. Rough fleece wicks the pee better . You need something like newspaper or puppy pads under the fleece .
Use an unscented detergent , they are very respiratory sensitive . No fabric conditioner .

Just to warn you though . They are the messiest little animal EVER . They don't smell but the hay does and it gets everywhere .

Boars IMO are tidier than sows .

For my water bottles , I made a holder from an empty plastic drinks bottle , cut the base off , part of the neck, fastened to the outside with cable ties , with the neck pointing down. Then the water bottle just slipped into the plastic outer with the tube through the bars .
Much easier than springs or those wires .
You need to change water daily .....and they often don;t drink it Grin
