Girl bun has been spayed today, not a happy girl. We've been sent home with meds and syringe food just in case. She's only had a couple of dandelion leaves since we've been back and no poop. I was you going to give her some syringe food with the meds in an hour, does that sound ok? Do I need to keep feeding her throughout the night?? Thanks.

I'd keep offering her favorite treats over and over first before syringe...in my experience syringe stresses them so much I only do it in life or death situations. But if she's a gentle girl a d will take the syringe go for it. Try making up the mixture and leaving in a dish too, she might take it. Good luck! Mine bounced back v.fast from spay.

Forgot to say, if she picking at hay I'd leave her be. Get the metacam down and switch her light off Smile

BTW shreddies are AWESOME for giving meds when she feels more like eating. They soak up meds really well.

She hid in the bedroom section as soon ad we got back so it was impossible to see if she was nibbling!! Thanks for the advice. I'll maybe try some feed in a bowl and see if she takes that. How long do I leave it before panicking with no poo??

What time was the op and do you know if she ate or pooped after?

nothernexposure · 07/12/2018 22:55

Think the op was around 11 am, she started nibbling before I picked her up at 8 pm but no poo at vets or at home.

We had poo this morning!! Not much but v happy to see some. She's still not great but nibbling on hay and dandelion leaves. Trying not to stress her any more but still keeping an eye on her. Thanks for the advice.

Glad poo watch is fruitful! Keep removing them so you can continue to monitor

Mine was neutered in September. She didn't eat or drink much in the first 24 hrs. It built up each day. Keep getting the Metacam down her, she'll eat more as she feels more comfortable.
