Guinea pig 'revving up' behaviour (!)

I wanted to ask if anyone's GPs have been seen doing the following:

Out in the open of the cage white guinea pig is seen doing what I can only describe as the following - you know if you were playing with a child and you were pretending to be a bull and you revved each foot on the ground as if you were getting ready to charge? Well this is what white GP did. Quite friskily, did this revving of the back legs then went jumping and leaping across the cage. Then moving around and nibbling hay then repeat. Did it several times.

It wasn't the type of kicking kind of out sideways that I've seen piggies do on videos when they're say having their rear end hair trimmed (if Peruvian), it was more of this 'I'm revving up to go' thing!

We brought her out the cage and checked that she didn't have red sore skin on her feet or down the bottom end near her bum (she is due a trim/bath as hair awfully yellow there but we've not done it yet as they're just starting to gain in confidence so we are trying to put it off for as long as we can!).

Any thoughts?

Was she popcorning? Look on YouTube for clips but it’s basically a guinea pig happy dance Smile

Well, I would say that it was included in part of the general leaping about, but it was the revving up with the rear feet that we found really noticeable and a bit odd! Maybe she no revs up for her popcorning! I can't think why she was doing it though - we hadn't put food in or anything exciting!

Maybe she now revs up - sorry - been a long day.

Yes there was some leaping about that could have been popcorning but this revving up business was kind of how she started it of!

Ah bless she's probably just getting bolshy now she's settled in and Spring is in the air Grin

Females can show the same rumbly mounting behaviour as a boar/sow pair or two boars.

And as I say to my lovely cavies "There's a REASON you lot were in Rescue!" [love them really ] Grin

Ok I shall relax then. Poor DD 16 was quite concerned it meant there was something wrong!!! She frets over them like nobody's business! She gets her own back though (white guinea pig not DD) by regularly squashing in to the same cosey as the black piggy who sits there cursing her, squashed into the side of the dwelling!

Might be bath time this weekend - their botty hair is dreadfully yellow. We're only going to wash their back ends, no need to do anywhere else.
