The outdoor pigs are in - will they be ok?

After two nights out in the greenhouse where water bottles froze I can bear it no longer and my 4 little pigs are in! I've put them in crates in the downstairs loo as it's the coolest room in the house (no radiator) and I will put them back out on Sunday when this cold snap has passed - do I need to worry about the temp change? They seemed delighted to come in tbh - it was -6 last night and even though I made them cosy nests full of hay and they were actually OK this morning it is just so cold for tiny furries out there!

Each crate is lined with puppy pads and fleece liners + has a water bottle, food bowl and igloo and two pigs. There is not as much room as they have in the hutches but it's better than being freezing cold for a few days isn't it? I have not put hay in because of the mess/lack of room but I will prob give them a handful or two at bedtime...

WWYD?

I think you were right to bring them in, it doesn't matter if they haven't got as much room, it's better than freezing.
I would give them some hay though, stuff it inside loo roll tubes if you don't want too much mess

Good ti on the loo rolls - I put some hay in and it’s everywhere already!

My rodenty types came in for Guy Fawkes (and I don't think they've been out much since!)
I normally have them in at night then out in the day but this year its been really cold compared to previous, we only have the 3 now (we had 5 before) our boar is in his own cage (the sows don't get on with him, his 2 wives died last year and we failed to PigDate with the 2 newer sows)

They are quite quiet apart from Brekkie Squeaking/Supper Squeaking/Chewing Cardboard @3am/ last night the boar was moving his hidey house because he didn't like where I put it !

The hay gets flipping everywhere though, DD brings half a field when she gets a piggie out to cuddle.

Ours are all 3.6+yo so getting a bit middle aged . They tell me they're happy to slum it in the small bedroom (radiator low and there's no door so they don't overheat and we can chat to them)

I don't know when mine will go out again, I did let them have a couple of days+night with the Pighouse heater and a tonne of hay when I had to clean the room, vacuum, and sort some stuff out.
Mine have an indoor cage (boar) and a C&C (sows)

Their outdoor runs are forelone and empty Sad

Well they are much happier inside but I felt bad they didn’t have much room so they are currently free ranging in the kitchen hiding in Primark bags full of hay Grin

Glad you brought them in. Word of warning, make sure the furbabies can't get behind the kitchen units and chew the wires. The cable to my tumble dryer is extra short for a reason Grin had a piggy who gave it a chomp.lucky it wasn't in use.

Ours have been in all winter as no room in garage this year for thier big hutch. I got one of those indoor cages . Only place we have big enough room is the living room so they have company as well.
They are hilariously vocal at breakfast and tea time and try their luck late pm too for a late snack😀begging like they are starving.

And at first i was getting up on a regular basis as i thought someone was knocking at the door..
Was one piggy knawing on thier wooden 'house' what a noise! Not that they arent provided with a variety of wood sticks to knaw on or anything...apparently the house tastes better!
Gets a bit messy around the hutch but its ok and we made room in a cupboard to keep thier food and hay in (damm hay gets everywhere)

Enjoy your piggies just dont let them near wires as pp says.

I'd do exactly what you have done. Don't rush them back out as they will need to adjust again.
