Brought my bunnies in

Just caught my two wee dwarf bunnies and put them in their inside cages. It's forecast minus 6 and despite their winter coats and cosy beds, they're in. Just turned heating down as they're in living room. Has anyone else brought their buns in or am I being a worry wort? Dh says they're fine but I disagree secretly love having them in as more cuddles for me

If you've bought them in you'll need to keep them in until spring. Extreme changes in temp can lead to hypothermia. Check out the RWAF site for info Smile

I've had two in since before Christmas (recuperating from EC, are actually fine now, but, as AGD says, they'll have to be in until it warms up) but the other two are outside. I was worried about them yesterday morning (was home, ill), as DP had opened their door but I'd not seen them outside (no snow, not that cold here). I eventually went to see them, opened the large door and was hit by the heat! Swear their shed was warmer than the house! Had forgotten I'd stressed massively Wed night and turned their heater up. It was like a sauna in there! Switched it off and they were outside within minutes.

I'd keep the heating in the living room down whilst they're in (or put them in another room which you're not going to use, again, with the heating off). I'll open the window of the room the rabbits (and guineas) are in as soon as it gets above a few degrees. Don't want them getting too used to the warmth.

(Oh, and I really can't bring the other two into the house, as there is just no room. And two free-ranging buns are causing enough damage!)

Mine is an indoor bunny, he has the freedom of the house. I never seem to have the tv on these days because of watching him and cuddling him. Of course the down side is bunny proofing the whole house by Mr Snuggle Muffin is worth it.

Slowcookervegan he is GORGEOUS.

My house bunny is usually in the conservatory overnight but she is in the front room now after this cold snap.
