Where do you buy hay cookies from?

That's all. I'm looking at ways to reduce the mess in the cage Grin

They have them in Pets at Home and Jolleys. I'm not entirely sure they reduce the mess though. We've had them and my pigs just crumble them, wee on them and ignore them. Hopefully you have more sensible and tidier pigs.

Mine loved them. But they make more mess than regular hay.

More mess? Hmm

Yep they come apart and then there's small chopped hay bits all over. Proper quality bales of hay, not chopped pet shop stuff, is best to reduce mess.
Mine loved the hay cookies as a (messy) treat though.

I give my pigs the ones from The Range (can't remember the brand but they're smaller thicker rounds than the ones from Wilkos)
My boars didn't like the Excell ones , I think the smell was overpowering .

My pigs are really messy with hay anyway so I find the cookies 100% better than loose indoors.
And keeps them busy having to attack them. And they last longer , I check they're still ok and put the cookies back in for another day whereas bedding hay lasts a day.

If your pigs will use a hay rack thats an option. Though our GP6 sits under his rack and collects bits in his fur

The only sure fire way to reduce the mess in the cage is don't put guinea-pigs in it Grin Grin

I put a tarpaulin under the cage , the main one has a plastic base which helps , the C&C gets lined with cardboard cut to shape and last year I hooked the tarpaulin up the outside with cable ties (my pigs don't chew plastic BTW , I wouldn't trust chewy pigs)

I'll go and investigate the range. Thanks

Poundland have them they are cheaper than P@H
They also have quite big parsley bells £2.99

Stillwaitingforsummer · 24/09/2017 08:53

Bought p@h ones yesterday. They obviously like them but lots of mess in the cage
however it's in the cage, not out of it which is definitely an improvement Grin
