Any chance my bunny will return??

My cheeky little bunny has run away. She has burrowed under and out of her run and the garden and disappeared. Her partner in crime also disappeared for a while but returned and has been a bit subdued. The other two don't seem too bothered. The cheeky one was always being chased by the others as she always grabbed the food and ran! She was full of bravado too. I don't want to block the tunnel in case she returns, there'd be no other way in. But I don't want the others disappearing either.

Anyone's bunny turned up after a few days away? It's been 3 days now... Sad

Yes! I had a litter born in a burrow in their run, so they were basically wild rabbits. One of them was particularly wild, and escaped a number of times into our lower, unfenced garden. She'd keep coming back, but then dig another escape hole.

We would, generally, see her either morning or evening eating, generally in our neighbour's garden, but then two of the other rabbits were killed and I didn't see her at all for a couple of days, so assumed she must have been slaughtered too. Came home from the vets on the Saturday and there she was. Luckily she managed to get herself caught up in some chicken wire and I grabbed her.

So don't lose all hope.

Could you get hold of a mink trap or something and put it over the burrow entrance, covered? That way none of the others could escape, but she could get back.

What we've done now is to lay heavy-duty parking mesh under the grass in their new run, so they can't escape. It might be worth thinking about doing something similar.

Ah thanks. Still no sightings of her though.

Very similar, she is from a litter born in a burrow under the run. Dad had been for castration but mum was already pregnant. The 2 remaining babies, one died, I believe are both girls however with her recent adaptions to the burrow I did wonder whether she was pregnant. I think she was just planning an escape.

She must've come up in a neighbours garden surely? We live in quite a built up area with lots of gardens backing/ siding onto ours. I do hope mr fox hasn't had her, she was secretly my favourite.

I'm not sure about the trap. Will have to have a search. I did say to DH that we'll have to fill it in or cover it up as I don't want the others disappearing.

It's not unheard of, but if you live in an area with lots of foxes the poor bun might not make it. Can you photocopy a note and stick it through all the neighbours doors? We had a bunny turned up in a neighbours garden many times over the space of a month. No idea where it came from but it was safe and sent a local rescue. No one came forward to claim it. Good luck bun [carrots]

Thanks yes, good idea. I'll put a note through the neighbours doors to ask.
