I'm the devoted slave proud owner of three piggies. They're kept indoors as we're in an urban area (lots of cats and foxes, also foul weather) and pandered to accordingly.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I come in to the house with shopping they go crazy. It's the sound of plastic bags, which they associate with food.
I've started buying extra (extra, extra...) veg for them, just so I don't have to see the look on their little piggie faces.
Someone tell me to get a bloody grip!

I'd tell you to get a grip but I'm exactly the same!

Buy yourself a shopping basket Grin

dunderheid · 16/07/2017 20:33

Yep, same. My piggies have learnt how to knock off their (very securely attached Hmm) water bottle so that I have to go and re-attach it - and of course I have to come bearing gifts at the same time. They seem to knock it off when I have just come back from doing the shopping...

TheFairyCaravan · 16/07/2017 20:33

I do the same.

Our piggies live outside in the Spring/Summer and indoors when it's chilly. They are so, so spoilt. They've got their own shelf in the fridge!

You'll spot me at the supermarket. I'm the mad lady rummaging through the celery trying to find the leafiest one for my piggiesBlush.

EastMidsGPs · 17/07/2017 17:38

Oh dear you are all describing me Blush

I check celery for the packet with the most leaves,
Cannot leave Poundland or similar without parsley bell or tasty treats
The afternoon DH has had ours sitting in the large seedtray of parsley (Italian) that he has grown for them

We've noticed that Mollie at the ripe old age of 6 has decided she needs to shout for attention .. no longer a simple wheek wheek, she now bellows at us Smile

Grin Our lardy boar will convince DD (his PigMum and Chief Enabler) that he needs to have "lions" (dandelions) picked and fed to him through the bars while he's standiing on grass. She dutifully cuts the tops of strawberries for the pigs when she eats them

In the supermarket I'm the same - leafy celery. Any bargain reductions like chicory or Cavelo Nero
When I had 5 pigs they went through veg like nobodies bizz.

They wheek when we go to the Pighouse door, before we've even touched the bolt.
Prey animals indeed Shock

EastMidsGPs · 17/07/2017 20:59

We leave dandelions in the grass for them, they mow round them and ignore them, if picked and laid in the run they fight over them!!
They love the girls from next door visiting with dandelions from their garden ... swear they'd move in with them in a blink.

Before my DD decided she wanted A Pet and we embarked on guinea-pig husbandry , I used to keep guineas from when I was 9-22yo.

It takes a long long time to get used to chopping things, opening the fridge or rustling a bag without expecting a little chorus of Wheek...we have mouths y'know .

We automatically cut a bit from a red pepper or a cucumber or apple when we eat them, and put it in a small bowl for the pigs.

They condition you. Ruby Eyed Himmy GP5 was very "Well Meester Bond, we are Ex-pecting you"

The shopping trolley tends to be at least half full of fruit and veg for my lot. It does, however, mean that it looks as though DP and I have a VERY healthy diet. The fact we see very little of it is neither here nor there.

And that's not to mention the multiple polytunnels which are full of stuff mainly for the little ones. The guineas are currently munching their way through fresh cucumber and tomatoes: peppers, pak choi and kale won't be far behind.

And yes, plastic bags mean FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!

TheHobbitMum · 07/08/2017 11:16

I too am a slave to the walking stomachs that are our piggies Grin They are more spoilt than the kids Blush

totorosfluffytummy · 07/08/2017 11:35

It's so satisfying to see the piggies eating all their fresh vegetables though (especially when my youngest daughter struggles to eat her veg every meal time)
