Guinea pig run shopping advice, anyone?

Hello, normally my piggies are indoor piggies but I decided it was too hot for them today (too hot for us all today!) so put them in their outdoor run in the shade. They seemed to enjoy it (they haven't previously!) but their outdoor cage is rather old and worn, and also a little small (its one of the wooden apex/ pyramid ones). What do other people use? Its only for in the day time, but obvs I want to keep them safe from cats. Are those all metal cages with the sun canopy any use? This sort of thing www.amazon.co.uk/VivaPet-Rabbit-Puppy-Protection-Cover/dp/B01DBTWPPO/ref=sr_1_4?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1497900423&sr=1-4&keywords=rabbit+run&tag=mumsnetforum-21 or is it a bit flimsy?

Following as we have new piggies and need a run. We were given a wooden triangular one but I can't get them out without them making a run for it.

We have a metal run for outside. It's like that but a hexagon.

It does say on the box of mine to add chicken wire to the bottom section for smaller animals as their is a small chance they could try to escape and get stuck.

So far mine haven't and we are out with them at all times. I did prop some planks of wood we had around the outside to start with in case they tried to make a break for freedom but they were too distracted by the grass to do that.

I suppose the tops, being material and pretty flimsy mean that a determined fox or cat could probably get in if it really wanted to.

It depends whether you will always be in the garden with them or not.

My 3 girls go out in a run a bit like that- rectangle with roof included as in your picture - every day unless the weather us absolutely awful. I put them out before the school run and get them in before it goes dark except in winter when I do a fair bit of piggie catching in the dark . They now love being out, are excellent lawn mowers and are more active. I have shelters and a hutch attached so they have decent protection if weather changes while I'm out, and so are they!

we have a couple of the Bunny Business runs
one is 7'x4' ish and about mid thigh height
One is 4'x4' , height as before.

Good to have the height to let them have houses/tunnels and keep predators from reaching them.
I secure the corners+mid length side with those hard ground tent pegs (solid , thicker than a pencil with a plastic 'hook' )

There's no base (guineas don't dig, but I'm not sure how safe they'd be for rabbits)

I use a 3x3 c&g cage for both indoor and out.
It has a lid on the top tha folds over and I tie it with string at various points.
Outdoor it just goes on the grass, indoors I put it on a cheap waterproof backed picnic rug.

My girls also live indoors and I had a tatty old hutch with a 4' x 4' run attached for them to go out during the day.

I've recently changed to one of these which gives them more space and they seem to love it. So much so that I've just bought a hutch during the summer I think they might start sleeping outside too.
