Looking for advice on gammy eye

Yesterday my partner and I bought two guinea pigs from a local pet shop. We have only ever adopted pets in the past but we were really drawn to these two, not least because the worker said they had been there quite a while due to being a bit older. I was really surprised at how easy it was to obtain the piggies (about 10 mins between entering the pet shop and leaving) and with how little information we were given on their care. Thankfully I have owned guinea pigs in the past and knew quite a bit already.... but I didn't disclose this to the store assistant.
I'll be 100% honest and say that I didn't look over the pigs properly myself. In the past I have only ever adopted animals and this isn't something I'd needed to do but regardless, I wish I had have done and appreciate I could be partly responsible. This was about 7pm.
At 8pm, once the shop was closed, I noticed one pig had a bit of clear liquid under her eye and the eye appeared smaller than the other. I really didn't want to mess with her in order to get a closer look, and assumed that she may have got something in it. This evening, I have noticed that the eye is weeping, noticeably swollen and much smaller than her other eye.
Obviously we are going to take her to the vet first thing tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if I need to go back to the pet shop too? Will they do anything? I feel a bit naffed off at the thought that the lady who sold her to me had more than likely noticed her eye when she checked her over, but chose not to say anything. However because I didn't act immediately and it's now over 24 hours later, I'm thinking the pet shop might not do much?
I don't suppose anyone has experienced similar and can let me know what they did?
Also, does anyone know of anything I can do to make her more comfortable in the meantime? She's eating and drinking as normal, and I haven't seen her scratching it.

My head says you should go back, my heart says not to as they'd probably just take them back and resell them, and at least you know what you're doing and will take care of her.

No help whatsoever. Sorry.

I'd just take them to the vets and treat it. My first two pigs were in the rescue part of a pet shop. They'd been returned as one of them had an ear infection. If I'd not taken them on, they'd probably have been PTS. They were delightful boys.

Perhaps take photos and advise the pet shop of the situation. They have been known to cover vet costs under similar circumstances.

Bit late to the thread but-

most likely something in it, we hoiked a 1cm strand of thin hay out of GP7 eye when my DD noticed it was part shut. She didn't protest , was obviously relieved and though it had a slight opaqueness , that cleared up within hours.(though DD was declaring GP7 had a cataract - they don't spring up overnight DD )

With any luck the pig will rub their own eye (they produce milky fluid from the eye) and get it out or their cagemate might wash the eye.

There's a huge potential for hay in eyes, I think it happens far more than we realise and the pigs sort it.

If its stuck or the eye is damaged then they do need help.

We keep a stock of sterile non-fluffy gauze , get some boiling water, salt, dissolved then cool it to tepid.

It might be that your piggie has a smaller eye anyway ( the Petshop should know if they've been there a while) Sometimes you can get a PEW (pink eyed white) that has eye/teeth problems (they're known as 'LethalWhite' ) but 99% of the time they don't end up leaving the breeder.

Hope your pig gets sorted, and good luck with your new piggies.
