So piggies can eat pumpkin!

I googled it to see if they could help me deal with a surfeit of pumpkin and they've snaffled it down enthusiastically. They can't have the seeds or too much though. Just thought I'd share!

They might even be able to eat the skin - mine loves melon skin Smile

Indeed they can..........
Whether or not they will is another matter.

Mine like marrow , I've tried some pumpkin in their supper plate.
We'll see what the Judgey Little Gourmets think tomorrow Smile

Some blighter is letting off random fireworks , might put our boar off his supper for oooh thirty four seconds.

Skin is in use as some very badly carved pumpkin heads. The flesh went down a treat with the boys. I think they may even have forgiven me for the pampering session I tortured treated them to yesterday.

Mine loathe pumpkin. It's just as evil as strawberries which according to them are poisonous even from a distanceConfused. Scruffypig weirdly loves fireworks. He reacts to the bangs in the same way as he reacts to the fridge door.

longdiling · 31/10/2015 18:23

Yes, mine aren't keen on strawberries either. Mostly they just like green leafy things and cucumber but the pumpkin was a big hit. Scruffypig sounds a surprisingly brave guinea pig!

He's a very chilled out pig and assumes that most noises will result in food being offered. He is also the one who will go right up to the bars of his run to chat to the magpie/cat/squirrel/pigeon that is looking in at him.

My three girls sniffed it, turned their noses up at at and squeaked at me in a very judgy way as if to say "why are you giving us this rubbish, we want proper veg!" They loved purple carrots that came in the veg box, even though they all ended up with bright purple rings around their mouths.

FernieB · 01/11/2015 14:24

Love the purple mouths. My Smoothpig (now deceased) used to love freaking me out by presenting himself with pinkish, blood-like, stains on his white coat. It was tomato - he'd eat some and then lie on the rest to heat it up for a snack later. The amount of times he was grabbed, flipped upside down and examined thoroughly for minor cutsShock

My Himalayan boar also lies on tomatoes, with Halloween costume-like effects. On more than one occasion we've nearly been off to the vet when I've almost been convinced it was an injury. He's a nosey confident chappie like your scruffypig fernie.

Dearly departed lardy boar (who was a massive wimp and a bit thick) was terrified of tomatoes and wouldn't go near them for about half an hour, then he would eventually figure it was food and scoff it. The trouble was he was too dopey to remember they were food for more than about ten minutes so we'd have the whole performance of him wheeking and chattering his teeth at the scary invader for ages every single time he was given a tomato. He was great.

Sounds like my girl when I bought her a little bed made of seagrass and put it in her hutch. I think she thought it was another piggie Grin

Essexgirlupnorth · 01/11/2015 18:14

My sister had a white Abyssinia boar who loved cherries but looked like a vampire after

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/11/2015 19:52

Fortunately the only pig we had that liked beetroot was our jet black Abby. We never noticed anything on his fur, but those aubergine droppings were a clue.......

GP1 ate red and yellow peppers and had peach coloured wee.

longdiling · 01/11/2015 20:51

Ha! I'm now tempted to try the boys with some different coloured veg - one has a white face so it would really show off the purple/red!
