I don't know what to do as do not like him being kept in his hutch. We allowed hi free reign of the garden but some how he managed to escape under a small gap in the gate. We've now fixed this and he has managed to jump over neighbours wall. We've tried fencing it a bit higher but neighbour is reluctant because it's blocking light in their garden as we only have small gardens. I therefore brought him a run which is lovely for him go graze but not run around. He escapes relentlessly every time and unfortunately I don't have time to sit and supervise for hours. I feel so bad asd I wanted him to have freedom of the garden but if I do he's going to get hurt if he keeps escaping Sad

I would use the run when you are not there, let him out of you are out in the garden with him
It's a compromise
I do that with my (two) chickens as we have a very large nosey stoat living under our shed

Could you,put a lattice against the wall to make it higher without blocking light.

I have two bunnies who run around the garden during the day, they are eating most of the plants but I feel too guilty to keep them locked up!

I thought our small garden was fairly secure tbh and the wall is quite high!!! He's like Houdini of the rabbit world. He has a hutch under his run and I've attached the other run to his hutch. But I want him to have freedom of the garden but cannot understand how he keeps escaping. He seems to pretty high and manage to escape through very small gaps. I went to the farm the other day and there were some rabbits in a small batted pen and they were happy to run around and not escape!!! I'm wondering whether to get a rescue female rabbit but don't want to make it worse.

solution: keep the rabbit in the house!

joking, I have a house bun and it's like having a small fluffy tornado flying around and bouncing off walls, I think with rabbits it's luck wether you get one thats insane or not, I've known so many people with rabbits that are really chilled out and just sit around a lot!

could you add a horizontal bit to the top of the wall, maybe made of wire mesh or something? might put bun off scaling the wall and wouldn't be too unsightly?

Is he castrated? If not, I'd get him some ASAP and when his hormones have died down (can take a Couple of months), I'd approach a local rescue for a pair bond. Many rescues offer a bonding service, which takes the stress away :)!

Rabbits are v social animals and are far happier with a friend ;)

Some, done! Baby is rioting!

I think perhaps this rabbit needs to go to a different home? So sorry to say that, we have a few and they seem happy with a relatively small space (we have a 10ft square walk in run, and an 8x4ft for the female tiny bun)

I sounds like you are doing all you can. I agree about neutering as it may calm him a LOT.

Also a female will burrow so don't get one of those.
