She is an Australian princess parrot and very tame and loose except when we have visitors or workmen.
Recently she won't leave me alone and follows me around mithering under my feet or flapping about in the hallway when we are putting our coats on for example.she is screeching a lot too. She seems permanently unsettled it is always out in the living too
With us. Her open cage is under the stairs. She's usually very calm and unfazed by anything - you can Hoover under her cage whilst she's sitting there she doesn't bat an eyelid. We have had her around 18 months and she came from a friend with a similar household of small dc.

Any experience with loose parrots?

It might be hormonal....we have a Senegal parrot, also came from a friend, and we have noticed since the longer spring days she has been aggressive, a lot of wing flapping and screeching and also she has built a nest of sorts on the floor of her cage. I can usually put my hand in the cage and give her a good scratch on the head/collect empty food bowls/tidy cage/etc. but the last week she has been actively attacking me and doing wing displays (usually she will be a bit pecky/naughty with the other members of the family, but she is always good for me) and the kids won't put their hands in the cage now.
I took the nest away when I cleaned her cage and for the last two days she has been back to her normal loving self! I have read a lot about their behaviours and it certainly seems hormonal, I just assumed as she is 17 and has never had eggs or a mate, that she wouldn't get broody!
