6 year old piggy, very thin and frail but happy and well, last night threw himself out of my hands as i was putting him down
only fell about a centimetre (he was just off the ground) but managed to land splat on his face and mouth
both his front teeth are wobbly and there was a tiny bit of blood. they look cracked right across at the gum line Sad
he cant now break up his veg but can manage if i cut it into v small pieces
i think he can eat his hay
i have fed him some critical care and have a vets appointment for this afternoon

so, any experience of wobbly teeth? should i ask the vet to trim them? trim the bottom ones as well or not?

i have hand fed pigs whose teeth fell out before, usually took about a week to get them back to normal, but no experience of wobbly teeth

his age and lack of weight make me a bit more concerned Sad

Oh poor piggie (and little daftie for jumping like that tsk )

I'd imagine the vet will trim them to a short/manageable level, you might find when they regrow they'll come out if they've been damaged, there may be an area of damage beyond the gumline (if they got pushed back). Given his age and the need to eat it would be bettter to even them up than risk one poking back into his mouth and risk choking him.

Luckily with rodenty teeth they do keep on growing.
Our GP1 used to lose a tooth from bar chewing (didn't stop him dping it though Hmm )

We gave him grated or peeler strips of carrot and cucumber so he could hoover it up.

(That's a Piggie Life gone BTW . Hope they have at least nine lives like cats do)

thanks 70isalimitnotatarget
yes gpig is v daft! he tries to throw himself off sofas now and has no fear. silly pig!
vet was our usual expert gpig vet - she has gpigs and loves them. one tooth had already fallen off and she took the other one off.
piggy looks much happier. might be because i am stuffing him full of fresh grass Grin
