We believed GP3 was improving, his 'output' looked better, though he was a bit quiet.
Last night I brought them in early (it was getting cold) DD noticed he had soft pooh again.

Back to hay/pellets/water then for supper.

He looked a bit meh , sunken eyes, just sitting there (not a good piggie sign)

This morning.....he had the runs. Big Time. All over his belly. And his eyes were sunken and crusty/weepy.

Before we went to work and school we changed the bedding, bathed his eyes.
TBH, I fully expected him to be gone when we got back.I phoned the Guinea vets and booked him in.

DD and I drove him there, he was floppy, eyes tiny and shut, drippy bottom.
(I did prepare DD that we might be coming home sans piggie)

I asked DD what she wanted, he's her piggie. The vet suggested antibiotics and fluid. He had an infusion (injected, he didn't enjoy that) and antibiotics injection.

He's home now, in a Hospital Cage with a fleece and snugglepad.

He's not out of the woods yet. He could still go To The Bridge.

But he's got his girlies nearby (but separate) and I'm just going to get some Critical Care into him.

Sad

70 just catching up with all this. Sad Have tears in eyes. That's so sad but I bet he had a lovely life with his girls.

Are they missing him or are they just relishing the lack of competition over the carrot leaves?

We lost Our Boy's brother about this time of year when he wasn't very old - it doesn't take much to floor them does it?

He did have a lovely life - he had a devoted PigMum (my DD) . We got him as a tiny 6 week piglet and she was delighted with her new boy (and he big smooth GP1 hog of course Smile )

GP1 and GP2 died in the summer ( a year apart) , I've always found the really hot weather more challanging to manage for them.

GP4 and GP5 are more wary, even after 6 months they still scuttle away to the back of the box when I put my big hairy trucker hands in .
They were a bit quiet for the first week or so ( we kept them indoors in case either of them had the runs ) but they've rallied.(And they have the entire house and garden to themselves now )

I took the pigs through to DD this morning and half asleep, she said "Oh lovely,Boar Hug " Sad but no more boar hugs.

The girls are calmer but my goodness, they are pee machines !
