No pictures yet they are a bit unsettled .
Two sows, both just weaned away from their litters (part of a huge Rescue).
They were in foster to Rescue to us within a space of 24 hours so they are both a bit What the Jeff?

GP3 is more interested in his dandelion leaves showing a healthy interest Wink

Both are smooth. Both are about 10 months (so only slightly younger than GP3)

GP4 - a tri-colour fawn/black/white with dark eyes , slightly bigger, now called Trinity
GP5- a Himalayan, nails like Freddy Kreuger - I bear the scars- now called Oreo

They will have a settling in period before DD gets her mitts on them.
Grin

The stitches do look super cute don't they (ours now completely covered with regrown hair of course).

Have to say I agree with suburban about new pigs settling in. It's about six months since we got our two girls, I can vividly remember that, for the first two or three days with us, our little satin pig (wifey of tricolour) literally huddled in the cage facing the corner and wouldn't move at all. Tricolour was a shocker for upending any pigloos/hidey boxes/tunnels so she had nowhere to hide bless her. And she'd had a dreadful start apparently, when she came into rescue she'd been soooo badly neglected that her little satin nose was almost totally bald Sad

Gradually she relaxed and settled and grew so much more confident. She is now so chilled and happy, I open the top of the cage to feed them and she's there, bouncing about, front paws up on their tunnel (or up on tricolour's back, smart girl, she takes no messing from him Grin), looking up and wheeking at me. So different from the nervy little pig we brought home.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/07/2014 20:17

The girls are happier prowling about in their cage (the food has vanished from Day 1 so we know they venture out from their housie)

They love the run now , much more enthusiastic to explore - compared to their first time in there where Oreo ran into the bars and hid.

Still can't hold her without keeping my hand on her back, whereas GP4 lards about happily Smile

And these girls pee rivers Grin. I'm cleaning both areas daily (GP3 still on towels ). He's Envy of the girls grazing but then he gets 1:1 cuddle time from DD or me while they graze.
He needs to show the girls how to popcorn though Grin

loving reading about the new girlies, hope they are settling in well, amazing how time passes and they change and adapt so each day as they gain in confidence. hope GP3 is recovering well and able to do some courting!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/07/2014 10:21

guineapiglet there's more photos on the "GP3 GotchaDay thread"
GP3 looks very handsome (he is) GP4 is showing her gorgeous markings, GP5 looks weeny and pigletty (which she is IRL, even though she's 10 months ) Grin

I can't re-post the photos, it takes 20 minutes and my techy DD to do them Blush

GP3 is just wondering when he can go out on the lawn again Wink

:) :)

Daughter and I have just been cooing over the photos.... They are both lovely girls and am sure Dill will be wooing them very soon, so jealous!

FernieB · 16/07/2014 21:15

They are lovely girls - Dill is a lucky boy.

Not wanting to brag but my boys looked gorgeous this afternoon at about 3:30! They'd just had a bath and a pedicure. By 4 they were less appealing

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/07/2014 21:57

If your boys had a bath to cool them down and freshen them up, that's justified.
If you bathed them because you were bored and wanted to antagonise them no wonder they scampered off and made themselves manky again.

We bathed GP1 and GP3 when they were getting a bit arsey over the May Bank Holiday (it was hot, they were snipey) .
We decided to make them smell the same and bond them with the mutual hatred of us.
It worked.

GP3 won't have a wash, he's scared of his stitches dissolving and his intestines falling out .
Though he got over himself and had a couple of hours grazing (in the small triangular run, the girls were in the big run, tearing round doing zoomies like rabbits Grin )

They were bathed because they were mankyConfused. The effects don't last long.

Glad Dill has been out and about and the girls are settling in. How long before he can meet them?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/07/2014 20:58

Awww a freshly washed boar is a joy to behold (until they run through a puddle of pee )

When we washed GP3 he was very quick to dry. GP1 took longer but he enjoyed the cool waft of the hairdrier Grin

GP3 needs a good 4 weeks to get jaffa. He chat to his girls, we know he sits by their cage (evidence left in the form of a few calling cards ).
We're glad he's got company, he's got guineas to whitter too again. It will be interesting when they go into the Pighouse , I'm going to have to steam and clean with the Vikron S again.
They'll pick their hiding spaces , hopefully they;ll let GP3 into his own haybox Wink

He'll like to think that he's the boss but with two women to organise him he'll be totally under the claw. They'll probably let him think that it was his decision to let them eat all the cucumber Wink

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/07/2014 09:58

GP3 has started " doin' a Scruffy "
I bought them leaf covered sweetcorn (Waitrose) he ate the leaves and left the cob.
I gave him watermelon , he ate the rind and left the fruit

When they share, it's hard to know which one eats what food sometimes.

I've also learned that now he's in batchelor accomodation, he's a very tidy boy. Pee in one place, poohs in a corner.
The sows ..............are messy little blighters, I couldn't find their plate . It was empty (well except for a few Thank You droppings) and buried under hay.
D'you think he'll want to share his tidy home with these manky sows ? Grin

Hi all, have been wondering how all furry creatures are getting on in this sweltering heat - it is roasting here at the moment and I wouldnt like to be wearing a fur coat unless I could throw myself in the sea :) Hope all furries, large and small have access to loads of water and shade, have just been reading the RSPCA advice on not leaving dogs in hot cars, it makes me Angry when people do that.... went for a long walk over the fields last night, and spotted all the gorgeous sows all wallowing in mud, with all the little piglets getting vair excited when it was their turn
(real big pigs I mean, who would dare give a guinea a mud bath!! Blush)

velourvoyageur · 22/07/2014 06:05

Pigs can definitely change personalities! Our grey one completely blossomed after about two years. Before he was shy and timid and uninterested in us. Total transformation....he was all bolshy and bouncy and assertive by the end Grin his partner was more quietly confident, liked to be held from the start, he'd nibble happily on your fingers and then stretch out for a nap, but was never extroverted like grey pig became.

Your girls are beautiful 70 :)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/07/2014 11:29

Thank You - they are very pretty little things, lovely markings.
And now getting braver (and noisier) wheeking at me when they hear me approach with the food,

I'd forgotten just how vocal they can be in force.
Our GP2 was a non-wheeker
GP3 never shuts up Grin
The girls are getting their voices "Come on, in unison. The She Devil can't ignore us"

(I'm hoping one -or both- is a Singing Piggie. I had two singers as a child, both of them were Mum Pigs. These girls had piglets before we got them, so in the winter, when they are indoors at night, I'm expecting song )
