OK, no I'm not in the wrong place Grin

are there any unwritten rules I should be aware of when we're choosing names for our piggies? I mean, we don't want to be the laughing stock of the entire GP owning population ya know!

what are yours all called? did you wait till you had them and then pick names (the DC are discussing names already and we aren't getting them till next week)

I wont be back straight away, we are all off to build a hutch now !

In the dim and distant past I've had: ( Not all my pigs but in my family- so I don't take responsibility for names Wink )

Cheeky, Snowy , their piglets (Cheeky wasn't a girl after all) - Tom, Jerry, Rusty, Justin (boars) and Snowball (sow) who stayed

Winnie who sneaked a pg in and had Ginger(sow) who stayed

Mavis and Edna (I was a Willo-the-Wisp fan)

Marmite

Then the Resident Boars

Much more fun naming guinea pigs than children - yes yes yes to that - no worries about them having to learn to write it for a start Grin

Love the idea of the Trumpton team!

Children's character names were definitely better in the 70s/80s although there are a few now that are GP friendly - a mate of mine has a living breathing Peppa (guinea) Pig Grin

DS2 is a big fan of a current cbeebies programme called Abney and Teal, those would probably work pretty well as guinea names.

I loved Willo the Wisp too!

Also loved Willo the wisp. In the past I have had a Bubbles, Misty and a Josie (all buns). Current Bun is Bobbington and the GPs are Humphrey (smoothpig) and Barnaby.

Love the Trumpton idea. I quite fancy a Good Life quartet - Margo, Jerry, Tom and Barbara.

Edna most certainly lived up to her name (Evil Edna)
She was un-cuddly but friendly on her terms.
And when she died it was in the middle of the dining room floor.
My dad said "Edna's dead" Sad
She was stretched out on her side "Ha, I'm going to make sure they notice, nobody puts Edna in the corner".

She did the Well-to-Dead thing. Just like she'd been walking across the floor, lay down and died.

Character pig.

WyrdByrd another Flowertot ironically was called, Forget-Me-Not Grin

Forget me not was Fifi's 'surname'. I keep thinking of Stingo & Slugsy but I don't think they'd work for guinea pigs!

I'm going to end up on Wiki looking the names up at this rate. It was DDs fave show for about 18 months - can't believe I can't remember any of the names Blush .

Violet & Bumble were Fifi's friends.

There's also Poppy, Mo, Pip & Webby!

Ooops sorry Blush No Stingo & Slugsy wouldn't work.

We have a Lavender and Lily on the SFA board living up in Scotland proving flowers do indeed suit guineas.

Flowers really do suit them. I was thinking this morning that Clover goes well with Daisy - although not sure my niece would be flattered by us naming a GP after her Grin .

quick Q - can GPs safely eat Clover? suddenly thought of this when I saw Clover as a name - I think there's more clover than grass in our lawn!

Oh and I agree that Flumps names would be excellent piggy names, especially Pootle

Yes guineas can eat clover but ime they don't like it and carefully nibble a round it.

However, buttercups and daisies are poisonous and I search the ground like a loon before setting the run on the ground.
