Just in case our very experienced GP carers have not noticed, in the main pets thread there is a post about a poorly GP which has had no traffic since Sunday - pop over and advise if you can!

There;s a few posts on this Beck - hopefully piggie will rally round but it is sad when they are ill (and especially with guineas, they don't do ill very well) Sad

Thank you for referring my post - I received some good advice on my GP. She is still hanging on - so there is hope!

Just to update: our guinea pig has died..... It turned out to be cancer! Spread very fast or she was not showing signs for a while. Took her to the vet, then home, so that we could say our good byes and a couple of hours later she died. She was due to be put down tomorrow morning, but died before that, at home, stroked lovingly to the end.

She was such a beautiful piggy! We are all incredibly sad, but..... such is life!

So so sorry to hear that but must be reassuring to know she was with you and stroked lovingly until the end, at home. So so sad though, take care.

Log woolly I'm very sorry Sad. I know how bad that feels. But as gingerbics says at least she was with you and you could see it was best for her to go when she did.

Very Sad just seen this update.

Cancer in an animal is not the first thing you think of is it (my mums dog had bone cancer, elderly labrador) and guinea-pigs are notorious for hiding their symptoms.

It's fitting that she died at home, in her surroundings with love.

My GP died about 8 hours after his vet visit and someone said to me "Why did you bring him home? Why not have him PTS there" ?

I did say to the vet that I wanted him to go at home and I'm sure if the vet wasn't happy with this he'd have said "No, don't take him".

But your vet like mine probably knew that they slip away , usually without any pomp or ceremony. And we wouldn't want it any other way.
