Pics!

Probably very new. They come into the world fully formed, fully furred and ready to follow mum Smile

You are so lucky. We are all going to want to find babies now regardless whether our sows have even seen a boar Grin

Remember boar babies have to be separated out at 3 weeks to prevent them impregnating mum or sisters.

And please can we see some pictures Smile

SQUEEEE!!!!

posted on the other thread trin Smile

lucky lucky you; baby piggies are soooooo cute. And hit the ground running so it may only be a day or two since they were born.

Is mum ok?

Gingerbics · 04/01/2014 10:18

Ooh how exciting! Were you aware the mum was a girl? Just asking as our 'boy' is looking very very plump! Where can I see the photos? What a surprise for you!

cute :)

most vet books say the males don't reach puberty til 3 months. I know the rescue sites say different but I always felt 3 weeks was a bit mean. mine were still nursing then. I left them in til 6 weeks and just kept an eye on them.

does anyone know why the vet books and rescue sites have different info?

I think it's probably a size thing more than age. A couple of years ago one of my sows had a litter of 6 and then 4 weeks later her sister had a litter of one and he was the same size as the first (4 week old) babies.

I should imagine the big one reached sexual maturity at a much younger age than the tiddlers. I separated him at 3 weeks exactly Grin

mercibucket · 04/01/2014 19:39

really don't leave them in for 3 months though!!!!
just re-read my post and wanted that to be clear

mercibucket · 04/01/2014 19:40

yes, one of the books I read used weight, around 500g I think for boys. it took mine a while to reach that

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/01/2014 19:44

one handed typing - i have my very lovely 7 month old gp3 on my lap Grin

i think -personally- the 3 week guide is because they potentially can mate and if they are with mum and/or sisters, the results of in-breeding isn't desirable.
pigs can be born with malformed paws, missing toes, eye problems.

gp3 has just stamped his back feet, wriggled two steps and peed for England. little turd Hmm

dd just handed him over 5 minutes ago .

'oi, gp3, no'

Well I have wandered over here from chat or aibu or wherever in search of piggy pics and I'm disappointed.

Pics are an essential.
