Xmas Grin

Just a line to you all to wish you and your furry folk a happy and peaceful time, thanks for sharing all your stories and expertise, hope you wise women have a lovely holiday, and the furries have tails to tell in the New Year.

Bobbed round to see guinea nephews today ( in 70mph winds :() - one guinea was sulking in his cage, so gave him some dandelions, he perked up - other guinea was performing 'horse of the year' tricks, jumping over quite high obstacles - he is now a Youtube sensation!!! Third guinea, our lovely blond Boris, has been well looked after and seems content and alert, but sadly the abscess has ballooned again, so the poor little mite may need another trip to the vets, although the owners are reluctant to do so. Gave him cuddle but feel rather fearful of his fate..... :(

Anyway, cuddle your furries close tonight, high winds and gales, they need to be snugged up warm and cosy - just like us!!
Happy Christmas all XXX

i was thinking about boris today - 'scuse the lack of capitals i've got gp3.

it's been a really Sad year for guinea-pig losses this year.
but some new additions to the super-furry family.

my dd has taken a couple of pictures on her iphone of her boys in their christmas hats. they are very Xmas Confused by it all.

i cleaned the pighouse and gave them lovely deep bedding at 7.30am they've come in for a cuddle now- and eyeing up the fridge because they know i went to waitrose this morning.

i will forage round tomorrow for some grass and lions - dandelions- then i'll be best mum Xmas Wink

My boys came into the living room last night to watch 'a Muppets Christmas Carol' with us. The GPs loved it as they got to sit in Current Buns basket and eat parsley whilst watching singing vegetables Wink. Current Bun was more interested in trying to steal a present from under the tree Confused (he may be on the naughty list now).

Merry Christmas to everyone and all their furry companions.

Singing Vegetables Xmas Shock

'Tis sacrilege to eat them (my DS is right after all with his veg hating ways)

Merry Christmas and a parley-filled new year!

Good luck Boris!

Today Naughty had a cuddle on DD2 lap with very tender cabbage leaf. She opened her eyes so wide very excited the whites of her eyes showed. Made her look a bit scary Shock. When she was quite stuffed, her little feet got stampy. I told DD2 that was Naughty's way of saying she needed to go to the toilet. Please put her back in the hutch quickly. The other girls 'helped' finish the cabbage leaf.

Later they had a parsnip but only Naughty enjoyed that festive treat.

And finally, I braved the garden and picked them some grass and were happy, happy happy Xmas Smile

Merry Christmas to everyone, your families and super furries Xmas Smile

I braved the swamp that is our garden to cut grass "must be mad, must be mad" in the pair of garden wellies that DD stole from me.(They were damp ugh)

Two little noses appeared and the grass was hoovered up Xmas Grin

I've just got two new boys.I rehomed them because owners small children was bored with them. They are tucked in my garage in their house next door to my three. They are already much loved by my children.Any how one of them looks a bit pranged for want of a better word.Hes perfectly happy and lively and eating his head off squeaking for attention but he can t move his head properly. He just looks mis shapen Any thoughts other than a trip to the vet in the new year?He is nt in any pain or any other cause for concern I hasten to add or he would be straight round the vets. Are some ginneas just born that way? Or could he have survived a terrible accident? I always thought guineas were quite fragile and died of shock easily.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/12/2013 20:47

Ahhhhhh Bless You sandiy for taking on two more little piggies.

His head carriage could be result of an accident (like being accidently dropped) or an inner ear infection.

Is there any way to contact the previous owners to ask if there's a history of anything you should know about?

WRT them being fragile- yes they are, though my DDs older boar has lost 3 lives (and given us grey hairs) but jumping out of our arms THREE times.
Once from my shoulder , once from DD shoulder and most recently from DD arms as she put him in the indoor run , onto a pile of toilet rolls.
He's still here to tell the tale.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/12/2013 20:50

That sounds like I'm a negligent pig mum that throws her guinea-pigs about (I'm not honest) but it just shows that even with an adult and a very savvy 11yo they can still get out of a two-handed-hold.

So a small child could easily have a guinea jump from them.

fortifiedwithtea · 24/12/2013 20:50

looks a bit pranged Shock

Oh dear, not heard of that before Confused Could you make your profile public and put a photo up please? There are a lot of experienced guinea owners here that may have seen the like before.

Meanwhile, have a Google of head tilt. Causes can include small stroke or ear infection. Does it look anything like that?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/12/2013 20:54

sandiy-

start a new thread about your guinea-pig or it will get 'lost' in this thread.

Then it'll be easier to spot and refer back to.

Good Luck with your new pigs.
