Lots off squeeching here.

I might have just dropped them my apple core from lunch!

Audilover · 26/11/2013 13:00

DD1 is home from college today so GP3 is spending the day in the crook of her arm having lots of cuddles.
Having turned down the parsley the other night GP3 has also turned down the carrot given to him.
Broccoli seems to be going down nicely and tonight we're going on a dandelion hunt ( not that that will take long considering the state of our back garden! ). I defy GP3 not to like dandelions!
( I spend more money on veg for the GPs than I do on my DC Grin )

Sleepingbunnies · 27/11/2013 22:58

audi I buy veg that I know we can ALL eat. That has to include our furry girls! :)

MadeOfStarDust · 28/11/2013 08:25

mine do not like parsley either... but dandelions disappear at an a alarming rate!!! we have a delightfully weed free lawn now!!

They also love the toughest, old, stringy, hard broccoli stalks for some reason... and Brussels sprout tops and stalks.... as well as baby sweetcorn! juicy carrots meh, flavourful apples meh.... crappy stringy stuff that people throw away in the compost heap .... yummy!!

odd piggies....

Audilover · 28/11/2013 08:27

Sleepingbunnies There's 7 humans, 3 GPs, 1 rabbit and a hamster in our house ( plus a cat but she thinks veg is beneath her ).
Trying to find veg we all like is a nightmare so us humans tend to have frozen veg while the animals have fresh veg.
It's an absolute nightmare! Grin

sleepingbunnies love the new photo Smile

The Fortified guineas have been deprived all week Sad

Normally, the girls love hutch cleaning and they wheek with excitement when they see a bag of sawdust because they know they are going on a treasure hunt guinea pig style
What this entails is I hide favourite food around the living room i.e. behind the curtains under the side tables, dining chairs etc. and let them out. They totter about going from one pile to another nomnomnom Grin Millie Pig, takes herself back to the hutch first, then Naughty but Coco is a devil to get back in.
However this week, DH went to Germany for 3 days so my mum has stayed over and banned any gp walkabouts so the clean out happened while they were in situ. Girls found out a Chube is not bigger on the inside Coco and Naughty squeezed in together and Coco shrieked blue murder. No room for poor Millie Pig so she tried to stand on it epic fail
Today they have been bombarded with noise, we're having cavity wall insulation. Oh well mumsnet mantra, This too will pass Wink

Weegiemum · 28/11/2013 14:05

I'm just back from the shops (buying a cake for dd2 who is 10 today!) and I found celery reduced. I have 6 very happy piggies right now!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/11/2013 18:32

The 70 boars are embracing their straw/hay area in the Pighouse (where the ramp was but the lazy blighters never used it so we took it out to give more room). Filled the floor space with bedding to snuggle and explore.

I got a "Mum, come here" shout from DD (and thought "Oh Bum, don't say one is ill" ) but she'd found some feathers in the hay.(Feathers as in half a wing bleurgh )

Unless my boys are luring birds into the Pighouse, and bored with being vegetarian have decided to add to their diet; it must've been in the hay.
I've had twigs, thistles and baler twine but so far nothing DEAD.

Gave them a plate of grass to lure them away from the darkside.

Gingerbics · 30/11/2013 21:08

Oh no, that's gross, bet you were all a bit freaked out by thatShock.
Excitement mounting here as we collect our 2 baby boy pigs Tomo, the excitement for me in on a par with bringing my babies home from hospital! Although he's hiding it my dh is clearly a little bit looking forward to it but he wouldn't let onWink! Oh yeah kids extremely excited too. 70 thanks for all the tips and advice we're all ready now and sure I'll be picking your brain again soon!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/11/2013 23:30

Good Luck getting your pigs Gingerbics. Glad to be of help.
And we're all here.
Anything you want to ask, no matter how weird , there will be a raft of us pig people here to answer.

When we got GP1 and GP2 , DH had done out the Pighuse. When he saw them (they were 1 yo rescue pigs) he said "Oh I didn't realsie they'd be that big"

Grin (not sure what he was expecting )

Last week in Sainsburys the trolley was bulging with celery, sweetcorn, romaine, carrot, parsnips, peppers, parsley, a mixed rocket/watercress/spinach bag , apples, bananas, grapes and potatoes.

So with the exception of the potatoes they were all for the guineas to share.

I got a "Your family eat lots of veg" from the cashier.

(Yes, my furbaby sons do. My human son won't entertain them)

FernieB · 01/12/2013 02:02

Enjoy your new pigs Gingerbics - they are lovely.

70 - my trolley is always full of veg. Makes me feel very smug at the checkout as mine is usually the healthiest looking load of shopping.

Sleepingbunnies · 01/12/2013 08:00

Enjoy your new piggies! They don't stay small for long!!

Since ours are still babies they are in for the winter... The NOISE when I do anything is just astounding!!!

I had them sat on my lap while the DDs had breakfast this morning and they were sniffing the Cheerios in the air... I think they think I'm a cow for not allowing them any! :)

FernieB · 01/12/2013 10:46

Sleeping - they were probably judging you very harshly Wink. Mine think I'm evil because I don't give them parsley every time I go past. I hear them grumbling to each other and I know they're talking about me.

Gingerbics · 01/12/2013 11:15

Thanks everyone love reading what all your piggies have been up to/ munching! DH Collecting them this aft while me and kids are out, at least they'll have a few hours of peace before we get back. Not planning on getting them out as I'm guessing they'll need time to settle in to their new home. Their cage ( c and c) takes up more space than we'd anticipated so will have to re-think Xmas sleeping arrangements for guests. Have a good Sunday. Can't wait to see what personalities they have after the initial trauma of leaving their mum has passed.

Gingerbics · 01/12/2013 20:14

Well our babies are here. Both very scared at the moment bless them but just had a peek and I could hear one of them munching hay. The other little guy has barely moved since arriving but is def still breathing! Lots of hidey places for them so hoping after a few days they'll feel a bit more at home.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/12/2013 20:19

Gingerbics
Congratulations on your new baby guineas BUT they need their Very Own Thread.

You need to start one in their honour.

[tchwink]

FernieB · 01/12/2013 21:33

Whispers 'welcome to the newbies'. Hope they have a good night. Won't be long before they greet you by wheeking for veg.

Gingerbics · 02/12/2013 14:18

Thanks! I've just started a new anxious new mum of pigs thread Xx
