Fireworks and noise and the wrath of the Judgey Small Furries

There have been some random fireworks tonight but I know tomorrow it'll start in earnest . We're going to a local display and Diwali is this weekend.

Then all week until next weekend by the looks of things (I've seen posters for fireworks on the 9th Shock ).

DD and I will clear a space in the small room, put down tarpaulin and assemble their new run . It's one made from sections that fit together so I can adjust the shape.

A box of wood cat pellets for peeing in ( yeah right ).
A pair of hay boxes (they don't do Share Nicely Boys)
And a radio.
LBC or similar.

GP1 and GP2 were always at their worst over Guy Fawkes for in house bickering.
I don't think the new boy is going to be any easier.

We had a few fireworks at home last year. We kept checking on the GPs but they were busy with some nice fresh hay and hadn't noticed. Current Bun was watching through the window. However if I get an email and the alert goes off they get very skittish Confused

They have :
2 boxes of hay to sleep in
A trug of wood pellets to ignore pee in
A spare cardboard box for the one-house-each-plus-one-rule
And a washing basket with two doors cut to make a tunnel, on a towel.
They are 'sharing' the tunnel

If I put them in a cage that size they'd have the RSPCA on speed dial.

Cannot. Fathom. Them. Hmm Confused

They just love a tunnel Wink

Scruffy and Smooth watched the fireworks from the kitchen window with the traditional Bonfire treat of parsley apples. Current Bun missed them despite being in the conservatory with a perfect view. He was busily making a back door in his cardboard box. Grin

I have explained to them that they're supposed to be scared and they promise to be frightened next year.

Our girls (guineas) are fine - lots of apples and a side order of much-valued (special treat only) spinach tomorrow night. Boxes and tunnel to hide in.

We also have a free-ranging house rabbit (Speedy MacReadie). He is frankly terrified of the bangs. Usually perfectly litter-box trained, he's peeing everywhere in the bathroom and refusing to come out from under the sofa. He was comforted last night by sleeping on the end of dd1's bed, and I've just gone up myself (dh is working away tonight) to find him sitting on my pillow. Poor thing!

He can sleep beside me tonight, but I'm thinking tomorrow should be a fairly loud DVD with all the windows and curtains shut. He's happy watching tv (his ears prick up ay 3 things - his name, the word "chocolate" and the Big Bang Theory theme tune!).

Speedy sounds like a lovely bun. Sorry he's not enjoying the fireworks. My previous bun loved TV as well - her thing was cookery shows, we think she enjoyed seeing the vegetables.

Weegiemum · 05/11/2013 10:36

He's the loveliest bunny ever, a dark grey lop. We're his 3rd home - first owner wasn't allowed him in her accommodation, 2nd owner (works with dh) took him in but has horses, donkeys, dogs, cats and chickens - poor speedy didn't get a look in, so we got him.

I think it'll be harsh tonight - lots of bangs already. We are good with his diet BT first owner fed him chocolate. Which he loves. Tonight might be the night for that rare treat - 1/4 of a Jaffa Cake!

FernieB · 05/11/2013 16:21

What an adventurous bunny he is with his food. Current Bun only eats his pellets, carrots, kale, broccoli and his special bunny biscuits - everything else is rejected. My childhood bunny ate digestive biscuits and tea leaves on toast. She also enjoyed weetabix and warm milk - she lived to nearly 10. (She was also viscious and hated men) Confused.

Bunnies are strange. Hope Speedy enjoys his Jaffa cake Grin

Last night (Guy Fawkes) we had the fireworks till late then blardy foxes making an unholy noise at 3am.

I woke up, thought "Guineas" then remembered they were in the next room.(And could probably hear them more than if they'd been in the Pighouse)
