Aargh! Now 2 Sows need a home. Please Help!

Well all the boars seem touch wood and whistle to have found new homes.

Unfortunately the 2 one year sows have been let down They were going to a school but the school wasn't prepared to wait until the boars had homes. All guinea pigs are going to be re-homed in one go once firm offers are in.

So details

The lovely girls a bonded pair that must stay together.

They are 1 years old

Their names are Lily and Lavender

Lily is particularly pretty, grey with a white face, dark eyes and a lovely pink nose.

Lavender has grey speckled fur, dark eyes and I think a white patch of fur on her nose. Hard to tell as the photo I've seen of her is in profile.

These girls are friendly and well used to being held. Would make great pets.

Oh Fortified am so delighted to hear that all the boys have been rehomed, what lovely news, people are great aren't they, hope they all get to their new destinations and are happily settled soon.

I am so tempted by the sound of the lovely girls you describe, I do wish we had a big garden and some room for accommodation, I would have them in a trice.

To all of you potential guinea owners out there :) Girl guineas are really lovely pets, loving and responsive, and such characters - these girls are a good age for children to handle, and as a pair will be comforted by each other and great company for you - please can anyone help, these two sound particularly gorgeous and urgently need a new start.....

Where do these lovely girls live fortified? . I mentioned your message to dh last night and he said "we don't have room" and then a couple of minutes later ( I was half asleep) he said "do we?" Lol, men! He loves the guineas as much as I do but won't admit it!

We probably don't have the room reeeallly.. 6 is a lot of pigs! Let me know if you get stuck though and ill see what I can do. We love in the west mids, near dudley.

There are now pictures on my profile of Lily and Lavender. I warn you they are completely adorable .

Their current home is Kent/Sussex border but distance is no object. Some of the boys are going to Edinburgh .

RWA members will be relaying the guinea pigs on their journey to their new homes. The date hasn't been decided yet but I've asked for some idea.

The boars and elderly sows that have homes to go to are leaving for their new beginning this Sunday.

It would be lovely if Lily and Lavender could be on the same 'piggy train'

Have you had any other interest? do lily and lavender come with any guinea equipment? I've been thinking about them all day! (Damn gins don't half get under your skin don't they!)

I know, in my defence two of them belong to the pre-school where I work and my piggies take turns going in for Guest Guinea Fridays! I am just addicted to them. I showed DP their pictures and he said they were really cute and was I going to get them!! I am sure he can be talked round I just adore them and they make a huge difference to some of the children at work, helping them settle and making them want to come in every morning with some veggies for them.

Oh my word! They are just gorgeous. If you don't have any luck and they fancy a journey up to Glasgow, give me a yell.

We are piggy sitting at the moment and my 2 dds have been pleading with me to get our own when they go home. We have all fallen in love with the little chompers.

Unlikely the guineas will be provided with any equipment/hutch purely because of logistics.

For example one of the boars is having a 1-2 hour car journey on Sunday. Having an overnight sleepover and continuing his journey on Monday by train.

Fortifed - they are both gorgeous, I am very smitten. Hopefully some kind soul will take pity on them, please!! - IF anyone on RWA ever needs some short term respite care, or help with travel I am really happy to help - the piggy train with sleepovers is seriously impressive organisation.


On the spare hutch/run front - do try Gumtree or Freecycle for spare hutches and runs, often people are getting rid of stuff and you might only need to collect, worthing checking out for spares and extra stuff.

Evenstar I am in Hampshire too, in SO22 - if you ever need any guinea care or guinea sitting let me know, I am certainly happy to do that - what is 2 more in a happy group of girls. I think your idea of taking a guinea into school on Fridays is brilliant, such a lovely opportunity for kids to learn about pets and an encouragement to them as well. Plus one day not too stressful for guineas either.

Yes guineapiglet it is wonderful that these guinea pigs are going to have a happy ever after.

But I can't take credit for organising new homes. All I've done is pass on names to the person on RWA who is doing all the work.

Just popping my head in to let you know that Lily and Lavender arrived safe and sound last night. They had an epic journey involving car, bus, tube train, big train and finally a 3.5 hour drive to Scotland.

They are adorable and although they are still trumatised pretty shy, I'm sure they will come round very soon.

They sneaked out in the dead of night and munched their way though a large selection of veg . So at least we know they are ok.

Oh what great news, like you bonkey I feel quite emotional at the thought of those two little souls travelling so far - hope you have lots of fun and games with them Hairy- what an amazing story... would love to see photos once they have settled, aren't you kind giving these little girls a home.

Fortified - great job - what a star you have been and brilliant work by the chaps at RWA. I really think this would make a BRILLIANT children's story, ' The Adventures of Lily and Lavendar' - who they met, how they travelled. ... I can see it now. Do any of you have artistic talents? We need a true to life illustrator, we all can prepare the words, and there you have it, the next Wombles or the like... and we guinea folk can all retire!!!

The lovely lady who fostered them for a week took them on the epic journey, said she had them out of the carrier on the train much to the amusement of fellow passengers. Lavender in particular was very keen to look out the train window

I met her at Machester then drove home last night. Piggy road trip! My dds had a ball. ignores the fact a booking error means I paid for the hotel room twice

My piggy lodgers go home this evening, its really taken the whole two weeks they have been here to settle down. They are a hoot when the fridge opens. I'm looking forward to the time Lily and Lavender start wheeking for treats.

Why fortified - my ideal train journey would be in the company of guineas,and not stroppy teenage childrenI would have loved to have seen them entertaining the passengers! :)
