guinea pigs cage- to use megazorb, fleece, paper????

Have two guinea pigs and have used wood chips until recommended to use megazorb as better for guineas health. However it seems to be much more smelly than wood chips and although I clean the areas where they pee and poo every day I do not want the house to smell which is seems to be at the moment.

Any advice or suggestions?

Has anyone tried value cat litter for example? Or mixing wood chips and megazorb?

Please advise! TIA

Thank you too, I just ordered 2 pads! Maybe I can cut them but at least I won't run out . Also DS is potty training so maybe I'll use one for him instead!!
Do you just use the pads and no newspaper? And just shake poos off into a bag?
Thanks for sharing the great idea as we're currently on newspaper , lots of hay and some wood shavings.

Ps I'll still be giving them extra hay on top not just in a hay rack I think as they seem to enjoy it

Don't think you can cut them really, unless you could sew up the edges... They do sell smaller sizes (sorry, should have said earlier).

I just use them with hay on the top in their bedroom and nothing on top in their feeding room. It does keep dry, though it does smell over a time (not from a distance but up close, so they'd smell it) so change it before you think you need to.

Getting the hay off is a challenge - I shake them into the compost bin then use the shower on high power to get as much off as poss. Then into the washing machine. Just don't use conditioner as it ruins the absorbancy.

Hope it works out ok for you. I'm impressed, as I'd be getting through a heck of a lot of paper otherwise.

And yes, you can always use them in DS bed if necessary! I've pointed out to DP that I'm prepared for him becoming incontinent. He was so thrilled!
