Is it too soon to get new guinea pigs to live outside?

We are getting guinea pigs for DD1 (10) - the aim is that they'll live outside during the summer (have hutch and run) and then in our large, brick shed during the winter.

I've been putting off getting them until the risk of frost has passed, but is it safe if we get them now?? They were supposed to be DD's birthday present and her birthday was in Jan .

Should be fine now. Have fun choosing your pigs and getting to know them.

You can get them sny time of the year really but spring/summer is best just dont let your g-pigs outside under five degrees xx

Good luck with getting your guineas, do try local rescues and breeders, free cycle for equipment etc . Temperature is slowly warming up, but vvv windy here so there is no guarantee that may brings good weather....! Just make sure if they are going outside that they are in a sheltered spot and as weatherproofed as possible.

My hogs (lardy adults) have been out since mid Easter.
Nice at night now but it was a bit parky.
Lots of hay to insulate and keep them busy.

Your DD won't mind the 4 months wait for her pigs when they arrive,
