And now she is trying to have another one but it's not coming out so DP and DD have just taken them up to the emergency vets. We thought we had two girl Guinea pigs...

Oh I do hope this has a happy ending, it sounds as though you've done really well so far, and how heartwarming that the male has taken to the baby.

Hi, update on Midnight.
He/she is doing fine, eating loads of grated veg and Alfalfa hay which she loves!
She has also done some wees and poos which is a good sign I guess.
She hasn't worked out how to drink water yet though which is a worry. We tried with a teaspoon and jam jar lids with water in and we've rigged up low water bottles but no luck so far.
Hopefully she's getting enough moisture from the grated carrots and peppers.
I hadn't thought about a surrogate mum actually, spent ages on the phone with the lady from local Guinea rescue and she didn't mention having any nursing sows though.
Fingers crossed little one will be ok. The vet said 3 days after Mum had gone would be the danger time and we are sort of there now and baby is hopping around ok.

Framey it sounds like Midnight is doing really well.
That's the beauty of guineas over rabbits. They are so much more advanced when they're born.
If he/she is eating veg they'll be getting some moisture. You should always have water on offer anyway (though my adult boys never drink it).
Midnight might copy the adult male.
It would be ideal if Midnight was a boar piglet and could stay with your adult boar permenantly. Otherwise would you neuter the boar (because he would have no qualms about mating with his own piglet when it's old enough) 
Would the local guinea rescue have a look and see if you've got a boar pig?

Go Midnight!
We unwittingly bought a pregnant guinea pig once and came home to a little piglet one day. Mum was obviously an extended breastfeeder though, her nursling fed for months, even after she grew bigger than her mum and sort of had to lift her up with her head to get at the good stuff.

Just thought I'd update you on Midnight, she is over 3 weeks old now and doing very well.. She's MUCH bigger and has learned how to drink from a water bottle, eat dry food and go upstairs in the cage.
