Hi we are think of getting a rabbit, we are complete novices! Do you insure your bunnies? Is it worth the paper it's written on?

I'm not sure about insurance for bunnies, but for my Guinea pigs I put a bit of money away every month into a account which should hopefully cover any unexpected vet bills.

I got stung with animal insurance (horse) in the past and have been doing this for all my animals for years. I only put the amount away that I would be paying to a company. Or if I have a bit extra then I pop abit more in then :)

Yes you can insure your rabbits but read the small print carefully just like you would with any other insurance. I know lots of people who insure their rabbits and have no problems.
If you're totally new to rabbit ownership look up the Rabbit Welfare Society and Fund website for loads of brill advice and contact local re homing centres they will also be able to help you make sure that you are prepared for rabbit ownership and that you are aware of everything involved in doing it properly and that rabbits are right for you.
Good luck if you do get rabbits they can be very rewarding, but not nessesrally the best pet for children (biting/scratching).

Insurance won't cover neutering, annuals vaccinations and routine things like nail/teeth clipping, so you'd still have outlay for vet bills.

Most insurance companies cover dog/cat.

I did find one company that quoted for the 2 male GPs (IIRC it was £260 ish for £2000 cover)
