don't think he'd be friends with your rat
but good luck!!

charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:33

Frenchgirl · 24/02/2006 21:34

I don't think he'd know what to do, he prefers his food cooked and ready to eat!!

charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:36

im waiting for my sons hamster to snuff it will then be getting another rat, great pet compared to a boring hamster

charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:40

waiting I must say, I had free range rats for years, then a cat adopted us and the rats had to be caged which I didnt like, and so we got gerbils, and the rats I have now were brought before the gerbils pegged it so I didnt feel guilty replacing them. One gerbil died of a broken heart
Anyway I know what you mean

i sounds like im a meany doesnt it. i got the hamster for my ds and its a biter so it never gets held, just fed and watered and cleaned and were too scared to clean it incase it bites! i had a rat a few years back who was my best mate, great little fella, he died. replaced him with a pair who didnt socialise with me and ds much coz they had each other. since then ive got 3 cats and a dog and a toddler!

prob be totally mad to get another rat but i love em, such great pets. dont know why people slag em off

7up · 24/02/2006 21:48

um free range! do you mean they were running all over your house bet your visitors didnt wanna enter your house. ive never heard of people letting live freely before

charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:49

I dont like hamsters either, cute to look at but...thats it. And a biter...nightmare

ShaysMummy · 24/02/2006 21:51

i used to have 2 rats....
but they got full of tumours and had to be put to sleep.

charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:51

Yep, there were a few visitors who used to hate coming round Especially since the bed was on the bottom step of the stairs...if you needed the loo you had to pass him (rats choice not mine)

OP posts:
charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:53

awww shay I had a rat who had cancer, she was lovely, but in the end it was kinder to put her to sleep than keep taking the lumps out. Awful isnt it?

7up · 24/02/2006 21:53

OMG didnt they wake you up at night, beautiful friendly creatures but i dont think id like one staring down at me in the middle of the night! how did you clean up after em or did they do it in one place like they do in a cage. loads questions! im fascinated that you had them roaming

overdraft · 24/02/2006 21:57

charliecat what a great website. My rats are in for some fun then. How many have you got?

charliecat · 24/02/2006 21:58

2 wallace and gromit ...you?...I have gathered the materials for a rat garden with sterilised soil and parrot food..and wrapped a dog bone in kitchen roll and hung it...they loved that

OP posts:
ShaysMummy · 24/02/2006 22:00

it is horrid charlie. the more that were taken out the quicker they grew.
they couldnt move very wellin the end coz of the lumps so they had to go to ratty heaven.
they were called brandy and monica (bless me!)

overdraft · 24/02/2006 22:02

we ahve two girls.Monica ( son a friends fan) and sandy ( colour son thought for ages about that name). They are so sweet. They have a huge cage but they do fight a bit so i have been shoving tissue boxes,an action man car and egg boxes in there. i love the fishing for peas game though and am gonna try that first.Rats are such great little pets for children. Not the first rat i have owned i love um
