Fancy giving them a treat but not sure if it is ok for them....

IIRC mine didn't like it. Unlike parsley which they would main-line had they had the chance.

One of my dearly departed piggies used to like basil leaves.

Assumed this was about porkers to flavour the meat?

SquigglePigs · 07/06/2012 22:04

Mine absolutely adore it!! It does comes third to parsley and baby spinach in a "get crazy excited over this" contest, but loved nonetheless!

Mine had an almighty fight last November after troughing down too much coriander (I thought "Oh that looks like parsley, I'll try that") Bad move.

They love parsley, GP1 would hog a whole bag if we let him. We restrict them to a couple of sprigs at night.
GP1 once leapt off my shoulder head and front legs into the parsley bag (that luckily DH was holding rather than the DC) because DH just wasn't dealing it out quick enough Shock.
Basil, sage, not impressed.

I have tried my two on coriander recently and they were a bit meh!

Parsley, however, is a very firm favourite!

Mine are a bit meh about corriander (also called cilantro on American pig websites,) but will have a nibble. It's safe. It's just not as welcome by my boars as P A R S L E Y (I had to spell that to keep them from going wild!)

Can your boars tell the difference between a parsley bag being opened and a bag of Quorn mince?

Ours can! Grin

BonkeyMollocks · 08/06/2012 20:10

70 That's impressive ! Grin

Oh yes, mine can "hear" vegetables. They also tend to shout if you go out the back door, because they know the parsley grows out there, but say nothing if you go out the front. Clever beasties these pigs!

Here's GP1 and his elder fur brother (DT - Darling Tom) earlier this evening. They both like eating grass (but thankfully piggies don't throw it back up - yuck!)

I was moving some garden pots round and found a pot of mint that I'd forgotten about.
Offered it to GPs but they were too busy shovelling pear leaves into their faces. (We moved their run to under the pear tree today. The grass was really long so they only had a couple of hours out there. Really cute, they were pretending to be tigers) Grin
